Re: Trip to Amsterdam
Clubs :
http://www.radionamsterdam.nl/?q=agenda/all
http://www.deschoolamsterdam.nl/en/program/
Also check Resident Advisor
Nice beer :
http://cafegollem.nl/ (Belgian beer)
bierfabriek.com/language/en/ (Fun place with decent beer, as many peanuts as you can eat and piri piri chicken)
http://cafe-belgique.nl/ (Tiny little bar with Belgian beer right in the city centre)
Food :
http://foodhallen.nl/ (Lots of different food stalls. The food is nice but a bit pricey and the place does get packed. We end up there a lot though cos it's close to where I live and there;s also an excellent Gin n Tonic bar)
Will add more if I think of some

Thanks man.. will check that food you suggest me for sure..
Re: Trip to Amsterdam
Delirium cafe is really nice for a wide selection of special beers: http://deliriumcafeamsterdam.nl/ . It's also easy to find because you take a left from Central Station and walk in a straight line and you will eventually find it on your left side.
As far as clubs go, besides what already has been recommended:On tuesdays it's a good idea to go to Sugar Factory since they have a techno night their every tuesday. De Marktkantine http://www.marktkantine.nl/ is also a good option to go out since they have very reasonable entry fees and often great line-ups, so defenitely check if someone you like is palying there.

The local record store is quite hip. But still worth checking out, the new venue is really beautiful.

Is it somewhere near centre?Alume wrote:The local record store is quite hip. But still worth checking out, the new venue is really beautiful.

Re: Trip to Amsterdam
Its within the "grachten gordel" (the circular water around the centre), so yeah I consider it near the centre.
Maybe 10 min walk from the central station.

Re: Trip to Amsterdam
If the weather is nice, there are loads of good parks. Vondelpark is the obvious choice _ close to the city, but packed out when the weather is nice.
I like Amstelpark which is a bit further out but more relaxed, lots of quiet little corners to hang out in privacy.
Also the beach is only 20minutes or so from Centraal if it's sunny.
Another really nice thing to do is take the ferry to the north side of the IJ river. You can get free ferries from the back of Centraal to the Eye Film Institute or to NDSM were where the old shipyards were. There are some nice cafes there and sometimes cultural events (and occasionally raves)

Re: Trip to Amsterdam
Well, I went to Club 11 YEARS ago and that was sick but the place is closed now
I think the issue is the people I go with always bigger, commercial clubs and we never can agree on where to go so we don't go anywhere. I don't really know where is good other than places from 2007 that are now closed
Is Studio 80 worth a go??

Studio 80 closed at the end of last year, sadly.StacieAnne wrote:Well, I went to Club 11 YEARS ago and that was sick but the place is closed now

I still haven't been, but De School, organised by the same people who ran Trouw, is meant to be decent.
Radion is always a solid bet
As someone else mentioned , de Marktkantine is also meant to be decent but I haven't been.
I really like OT301 as well. It's a bar, vegan (might suit you?) food place, exhibition space and club all in this crusty old building that used to be a squat. It's cool, and gets some big-ish names every now and again considering the size of the place and how off the grid it is. Marcel Dettmann played there at ADE a couple of years ago, and Jeff Mills (I think?!) the year before. It pays to check the agenda rather than just turning up though cos it's as likely to be rock night or samba music or something as house or techno. It's also only five minutes from my house so a short stagger home
All these are more locals than tourists type of places. It pays to know who's playing on the night cos they (De School, I'm looking at you!) can be a bit pissy on the door if you don't at least have some idea about the music policy of the place.
There are probably more places but dad life prevents me from being the social butterfly I was a few years ago so I'm not as up to date as others might be on the newest places...
Re: Trip to Amsterdam
Na, try Radion or De School.
My davourite one is gone, De Cruquiusgilde. Had some awesome nights there.

Wowowowow YES, a Vegan bar would totally suit me!! I found it pretty difficult to eat last time I was there as there isn't much in the way of Vegan convenience food and I mainly ended up having just bread
I'll make sure I check out some of those places next time I am over. The people I normally go with just like to sit in a coffee shop and smoke, which is fine but I don't do it and I find it kind of boing.
Haha, good to hear that the staff care about people being into the music in those places! I was expecting to not get in P Bar so was pleasantly surprised when I did.
My friend that I made there who was only wearing a leather thong, that went round the back (leaving EVERYTHING out on display) keeps on messaging me and asking to hook up. He told me he wasn't into girls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyways, crusty old buildings that used to be a squats sound right up my fucking street.
I can't believe Studio 80 closed! It always seemed to have quality lineups. What happened to it???
Re: Trip to Amsterdam
