Any recommendations?

I'm not really at home in plugin land.

Im basically looking for anything that can substitute the ableton processing devices. Those are still my go too's.

Elyssa mpressor is a crazy good compressor.
Bx sat is nice.
Bx xl2 is incredible
Bx refinement is very sexy
Vsm3 is wonderfully dirty

I have all of these and they get a lot of use.

You can get pretty close to the sound of boom with a simple resonant hipass and some saturation iirc.

Just try the demo and see if you can recreate it with stock effects, and save as a template.
how far do you want to go

I ended up buying bx_xl2 and basically got bx_boom for free.

Enjoying my early forays into M/S limiting, though it certainly appears to be a learning process!

I have to bump this thread to say that bx_refinement is amazing. It nudges your mixes towards a smile curve by killing some of the high mids and adding topend. It's actually ridiculous how much presence I can add to my mix without it sounding over the top, up to 3-4db sometimes. Before I started using it I didn't even realize how much air my mixes lack.
