Has anyone came across Audiothing's 'Hats'? I haven't tried the demo yet but thought it looked pretty interesting.

in theory, I think this is a superb idea,
but honestly, when watching these video's...
a large factory, with more than 50 samples
seriously, more than 50 samples is already considered large nowadays ???
ow my...

and
you can also load your own samples
well, yeah, so can any sampler, really, or I just put my sample in an audio clip in Live...

and they are honestly trying to impress with the most basic of parameters like "gain" and "pitch"...

damn...

what are we ? 2001 or something ?

not having a go at you dommminic, ;)
just saying I LOVE the idea,
but this thing seems very very VERY poorly executed !

No offence taken! I do agree that it doesn't look the finished article but I like the look of the simplicity of it. I suppose I'll know for sure once I've gave the demo a shot.

Hats can be a bit of a weak point for me so I hoped that this might give me a new outlook on them.

hats, or the hat patterns ?

cause percussion is a weak part of me as well,
but it's the patterns, definitely NOT the sounds,
and honestly, this plugin only focuses on the sounds,
and it doesn't promise me anything I can't already do with Live and some proper samples or self-synthesized hats

I think SA Kick 2 is easily worth the upgrade price if you even very generally liked Kick 1. It's got far more options as far as control, and the saturation options are much, much better. I haven't decided if I like it as much as Metrum yet, but dollar for dollar, Kick 2 could be the better value for folks who want deep options and more cash in pocket.

With that said, I swear I always come back around to Bazzism for some reason. I guess there's something to be said for simplicity, and I'm not the brightest banana on fire at the office party tiki bar.

haven't tried version 2, but I got version 1 here, and it's fucking superb.
That and bazzism is about all you need kick-wise if you're using SW...

Version 2 is legit fantastic. I've not really had much time to go too indepth with it, but it's a big upgrade on version 1. The additional layers and being able to control phase makes it very capable for kicks obviously, but I reckon any percussion could be created with it as well as basses. The instant drag/drop export is also killer. Oh, and being able to control the harmonics in the sub-layer...
