I heard they use tons of vintage drum computers,
so you're all set to go man !
want me to make you some flute patches ?
I'll arm myself with a few 80's Yamaha drum machines and it will be a gloriously lush live act. All I need is someone that can play the fucking pan pipes. Boiler Room would defo book me and my pan pipe playing partner. Fame awaits!!
Thank you for the laughs, debate, new music found, production tips etc etc over the years. I wish Subsekt and everyone all the best for the future. Wiu.

How the pioneers of house music must weep when they see that shit. (Tropical house)
Picture the scene...parliament chambers, 27th May 1992 (day after Castlemorton)
"Mr Major sir, this new cultural movement called rave is the most dangerous threat to our way of life we have faced since the strikes of the late '70s" these kids are not willing to accept that we are their natural masters. The new way of thinking that they display is like a virus, sweeping through British youth and waking them up. We must crush this movement!!!!"
" Mr prime minister sir, what we propose is a law against partying for no charge. But the best thing we can do sir, is to allow the music to eat itself, we predict that in 25 years the music will be so diluted and un-political that the threat will be minimal. Advertisers will use this music to sell things to the puppets, certain entrepreneurs will turn this current threat into a 7 billion pound a year industry, selling sounds for people to make music from, thus negating creative thinking. All we have to do is wait and the movement will destroy itself mr prime minister...it's inevitable"

Re: tropical house
I'm just gonna put this one in here because it ain't worth opening a new topic for...
I grew up in an area of Belgium that a lot of people make fun of, especially the dialect,
which is a totally unique language that I've never heard anyone imitate believably if they didn't grow up there.
(some character in the film "Rundskop" does it rather well for example, and yet after only 2 minutes I could tell he was faking it)
Recently a tv series shot in that region won quite a few prices,
so now all of a sudden it's considered "cool" again instead of just being described like a bunch of Neanderthalers having a fight over who can eat the last part of the mammoth
To be honest, I couldn't give a fuck, I left the region 20 years ago,
though I'll never deny my roots either.
Anyways, once in a while you see people post stuff about our dialect, taking pride in it...
So it appears these 2 women make this kind of electro-trashy music in the dialect from my region.
It put a smile on my face for about 3 minutes...
Or at least this track did.
As soon as I checked out the other tracks, I thought : "pffff, and people consider this worthy of their attention ??"
They even played at a few of our bigger festivals apparantly...
anyways, just for laughs... :
youtu.be/jk5xkiKPWqk
apparantly all it takes is a juno 60 arpeggiated line, an old farm and some extravagant costumes...
this video even won some price in Paris somewhere, if I can believe wiki...
we obviously put too much thought in what we do !

Re: tropical house
love the stock footage. really adds a professional touch to any piece of shit doesn't it?
Re: tropical house
that just sounds like Electroclash from 2001, which itself was just a nonchalant pisstake by art school graduates.
it seems similar to the the kind of good-natured 'fun' acts that would play at Sonar by Day 10 years ago and people would like it because it was sunny and you could just chill and have a few beers. but it depends if they are presenting it as serious or not-so-serious. maybe i'm just too old for this.
if you are unlucky enough to have heard of PC Music, then you'll know of the British equivalent. Art school wankery, which, while shite, is further ruined by people taking it seriously. I remember being young, foolish and naive, but i don't remember being a cunt.

this kind of reminds me of Die Antwoord, but obviously way less executed.winston wrote:that just sounds like Electroclash from 2001, which itself was just a nonchalant pisstake by art school graduates.

Justin De Nobrega is one of the guys who makes the music for Die Antwoord,
and I used to know this guy from the days he made wonderful IDM under his "Seven Ark" moniker.
I still find it very hard to imagine a guy who made such a wonderfully emotional album ("Noise Of The New"),
creating such trashy music now, even if it's extremely well executed...
