Post amazing digital only techno!

Post by Barfunkel »

As you probably know, I'm a vinyl nerd. There's plenty of records, both new and old to buy and since I'm not a professional touring DJ, there's little need to go digital.

However, I'm always interested in quality music, so post some examples of amazing techno that isn't available on vinyl!

Naah. If I wanted to dis digital, I'd write a song about it with my patented pitch-shifted vocals.

So you have managed to wiggle your way out of posting anything less than amazing. Well done.

You can buy cd format from subsist (though that is digital right) and I have bought vinyl in the past, but that was the past. what ever though that's a great shout.

My mistake.. I've read the title as 'post-amazing' , so went for underwhelming in comparison. Glad to hear I was on-target  :) 8-)

I had read this as "post-amazing" thought it was some new genre or something too!

As said:
Subsist
Singularity
Also pretty sure:
Lateral Fragments
Monocline
Unknown Collective
Distorted Perception
HueHelix (was fully bandcamp until put out a oscar mulero release on vinyl)

Rodz-konez
Ante-rasa: Some of the recent releases are digital only. Their old (and best) ones are even available for free as flacs.

Another thread maybe...
But can anyone post any amazing digital synthesis only tracks - no analogue gear, no samples, just digital synthesis. A good friend of mine only uses fm8 for every element in the track. There are some guys who do glitch, microsound, noise stuff only using digital synthesis.
Or what about only code techno through supercollider or max?
I know there maybe a particular stigma around "digital" but really doesn't bother me! I like sounds if they are interesting and engaging. Don't know anyone else who does this kind of purely digital synthesis thing with techno - any suggestions?
Another reason I'm interested in this is because it's almost like the other end of the analogue/digital spectrum - digital purists! there must be more out there!

No samples will be a bit difficult. Besides that I would say that most electronic music is produced fully ITB and therefore digital. But does it really matter that much how it is done?

For coding only stuff you could check the demo scene. There are lots of competitions to get a single loop with some cool visuals into a very small file. Maybe thats what you are after?

Also the chiptune scene could be interesting for u then. Thats all digital for sure!

I didn't mean digital as in made digitally. I meant music that isn't on vinyl. I only ever listen to record store clips of vinyl records, so I never get to hear what else is out there. Hence the topic.

I think its pretty much impossible to tell if someone is ITB only or using some analogue gear just from listening to the tunes. You can get equally great sounds from both

Amen.

Not having a go at anyone in this thread and I know no one is really talking about it here, but is it just me finding this obsession with ITB vs OTB vs analogue vs digital in techno circles increasingly fucking tiresome? It seems to have become pandemic recently. Who cares how it's made, if it's good, it's good, if it's not, it's not. Choose your poison, learn it and make music, ffs.
