What music inspires you to make UNCE UNCE UNCE techno?
Re: What music inspires you to make UNCE UNCE UNCE techno?
Yeah, I almost forgot what an influence that album and Chemical Brothers Exit Planet Dust was.
Man I listened to those cassettes nonstop.

I like to listen to Pantera, Metallica and Rage Against the Machine for inspiration for grooves in my tracks. For me, those three bands were the masters of heavy as fuck rhythms and riffs that didn't rely on outrageous amounts of distortion, pig squeals and guttural vocals and all that shite.
I recently sampled Vicarious by Tool for a track that I'm working on at the minute

I realise that these bands are probably the most 'HERP DERP I LISTEN TO METALZ' groups going but, fuck it, I grew up listening to their music.

Nowt wrong with Tool and Pantera.
Dimebag was the shit.

I suppose it's kind of reverse nostalgia from my part. Me and most of my friends were into punk, black metal etc in the 90's, those fancy MTV bands like Nirvana or Metallica were looked down upon. I still can't stand 'em.

Any noise fans??

And boris

And the whole 'no input' music stuff (using mixing desks to make feedback loops)

To be honest, only things as nature, family and frineds inspire me to make techno these days.
Sinds I've got tinnitus I only listen ambient and downtempo breakbeat kind of stuff.
I do check out releases and all that kind of stuff but no more podcasts etc etc.

I already mentioned in the thread, but yes, I love noise.
I've built myself an awesome no input rig. I use it to generate sounds for my stuff. I was even considering just starting a noise act and playing some noise festivals.

Ah no, theres no boundaries to what ever inspires you to make techno, after all it is meant to inspire you and not so much anyone else haha.quest wrote:I'm confused, is this thread about what music inspired us to make techno, besides other techno?
Good response about the frequencies. I was at a festival 3-4 weeks ago and was dead by Sunday. Sure enough Ben Klock was playing on Sunday night (don't even like Ben Klock that much) and it was safe to say it felt like I took a dosage of adrenaline

Was that in Ireland? Pretty sure my friend went to that gig and that was his introduction to Tool. He ended up showing me tool after that and I was absolutely hooked.dylanlolwut wrote:Hedges wrote:I like to listen to Pantera, Metallica and Rage Against the Machine for inspiration for grooves in my tracks. Was at that gig too, twas a good one, as for inspiration to make techno, the sounds of the outside world, machinery syncopation are good one's,big fan if metal too liked it long before I did techno.
Re: What music inspires you to make UNCE UNCE UNCE techno?
Ghehe, was into metal too before I got into techno.
But how techno is it when you start obsessing whether it's proper or not? You like something you hear or you don't, end of story.
EDIT: time for my afternoon nap: "proper" was the subject of another thread!

Re: What music inspires you to make UNCE UNCE UNCE techno?
Some tracks that inspired me...
Derrick May - Strings Of The Strings Of Life
Juan Atkins - Techno City
The Delta - Standby
and Punk rock in general + RATM, Korn, Tool and Pantera!
Really weird list but thats it!

Re: What music inspires you to make UNCE UNCE UNCE techno?
Most of the time other techno, or gigs. After a good gig I always tend to make better tracks, don't know why.. And other than that I love to just open some random VST Synth and just create some sounds and see where it's going.

Underneath the dark arches in Leeds is a nice spot for picking up sounds.
