Hi James, did you get a chance to hook the sq1 to something midi?

i havent but it does come with an adapter to connect a midi lead.

, was watching some more vids with it last night.. Arranging the delivery of one right now. The BSP looks mega-excellent.. But possibly overkill. The SQ1 looks to have a few nice tricks up its tiny metal sleeve.

Just need something to bring the MS20mini to life in a way.. It needs notes running. The mini only accepts midi for the pitch.. so it needs modulation. Trying to seq it with the MD is a pain in the hole. Unrewarding.

I own a zaquencer. I was originally getting a Beatstep Pro for the CV outs but after the months of delays and finding a BCR cheap second hand went for Zaquencer in conjunction with a MIDI to CV convertor.

Works amazingly, I absolutely love it to bits.

The chord sequencing, Key Selection and all the extras it can do is awesome.

Use it mostly for my modular with the MIDI to CV convertor but have used it to control a Juno and it kicks ass.

Got the Korg SQ1 today - Whoop!

Sounds like a proper bloopy, dirty fucking synth now!!

Quality is spot on as well. Really dont like those flimsy 'red-lit' volca pots that they use - but so what.. I'll treat it respect. The rest of it is top.

I have friends who love them. Apparently, many of the bugs have been removed with an OS update.

Remember though, that it's only 2 monophonic sequencers plus a drum sequencer. So you can't make really complex stuff or use chords.

Maybe buy it 2nd hand and sell it for no loss if you don't gel with it?

I have the BSP and love it as an analog sequencer but hate is as a midi sequencer.
I mean, only pitch, gate and velocity... for real!?

I didn't realise Beatstep pro didn't need a computer! Mmm need to look at this more closely that could come in very handy!

Can anyone tell me about storage as in how many sequences and can projects, which I believe contain 16 drum and 16 sequences be changed on the fly?

The Doepfer is MIDI and CV out, not USB. I got one at Xmas. It's a fantastic machine, highly recommended...

That rules it out then as I need it to connect via USB. The Doepfer does look shit hot but not for me at the moment.
