James Aven (feedback on mixdown please)
James Aven (feedback on mixdown please)
So i submitted this track to a label and they are interested in signing it to a V/A they just wanted me to work on the mixdown a little bit and give the sounds space to breathe in the mix. I'm pretty happy with this mixdown just would like some more opinions before I send it back in!
Thanks a bunch!

Cool track!
Sounds good in mono.
In stereo, that resonating rhythmic sound is a bit louder. Maybe if you threw on a compressor to just process the side signal in mid-side mode it would help keep the peaks down which would also fix some of the phasing during the breakdowns; It would still sound wide in stereo but sound more similar while switching between mono and stereo.
If your track is going to get mastered by your label they'll probably fix that small issue... but there's no 100% guarantee on that.
I can't find anything else to comment on at the moment.

Sounds like some frequencies are missing in the medium-high range? Or too much pulled down.
There is also too much high resonating, gradually rising along the track, as if you were unfiltering a low pass (you certainly can fix this with a de-esser)
The kick needs more lows for my taste.
These are the main things to fix for me.

It's a pretty good mix. I would address this though:
At 2:30 there is an eerie sound coming it, sounds very thin and hollow, I would turn that sound down in volume with a few dB and also cut it around 800-1200hz a little.
This will help to relax the track a bit. Also keep the main synth a bit more under control at its loudest resonances, especially after 5:30~ Perhaps automate the volume a little so it doesn't cut that massively in the hi-mid? Also turn down the clap by a notch.
