Drum/mix buss distortion

Post by Mikeyhoy »

Just wandered peoples opinions on mixing after buss distortions....
Im very keen on distortion/saturation on my busses i usually just apply it to my master/mix buss. I love the sound/crunch/gelling it gives, but sometimes find after the clarity is obviously lost. My question is, how do you guys go about processing/mixing after the effects? Of course once you have applied it to a buss, you are limited to what can be eqed (only the track as a whole) i use parallel processing alot but always find that the artifacts that appear by placing the distortion / saturation straight on the channel are more desirable.

Opinions anybody?

There's a couple of distortion topics on the main page, do these answer your questions or do you need something more particular?

It's possible the artifacts you encounter has a lot to do with aliasing or the plugin / hardware itself?
Are you in the box or?
