I remember Reason 2.5 came with a prodigy demo track supposedly all made ITB with the software to showcase it's ability.

Jilted was such a great album, their peak imo, I wore it out that summer. Saw them on the tour that year too, not much on stage though just the Roland Sampler, the Prodigy and I think a 101. Lots of jumping around.

Yeah he became a Reason fan for a while, all the drums for Firestarter were all done in that, said he liked the tightness of it which I agree with. With hi end processing afterwords of course.

The new shit is utter crap. Oh well he wouldn't be the first guy with hundreds of thousands worth of gear doing that...

Highly unlikely, considering Firestarter came out in 1996 and Reason 1.0 came out in 2000.

AFAIK, Fat of The Land was still a hardware affair.

I'd blame being a middle-aged multimillionare more than the tools. Hard to find the inner drive to be really creative when you've already achieved everything possible in your chosen field.

Can't disagree with that. I see this latest album as a last effort to boost the pension fund.

yup. the synth lead on "smack my bitch up" was a korg prophecy preset actually.

I remember reading an interview with Liam about the korg prophecy.
He was used in lots of the promotion at the time they came out.
"As used by the prodigy"

But he said all that happened was that they sent him one, he didn't like it, and he didn't actually use it on anything.

but he does state that he used it all over that album in this interview: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/1996_ar ... odigy.html.
i just remebered that preset thing from reading fm in 97 or 98, there was this big spot the preset thing going on where readers would send in their latest finds. obviously not the best intel.

Yeah I think it was like a year later when he said, nope, I didn`t really use it.

Maybe he was just trying to bring confusion.

Liam's comment:
"The Prophecy is one of the few things that produces big distortion as far as a ready-to-run synth goes. It's at its best on stage, though I've used it on just about every track on the new album so far. The programming is so open, it's great for resonant sweeps, and the ribbon is quite handy. You can also record filter changes over MIDI onto the Mac. There are so many different things you can do with it. It's not the type of keyboard I'd go to to start a song with -- it's better for distortion and feedback sounds. It's a shame it's only monophonic -- it's got some good string sounds. " (Sound On Sound septemper 1996)

And like usual he has changed his mind in another interview some years after...

"It`s Absolute Crap" He says this because it has only three good sounds on it and it is too expensive (even though he got it free). He says that if you buy a £900 pounds keyboard then you would expect to turn it on and play chords on it and possibly switch it to solo mode. You don`t expect it to be stuck in solo! What's the point in having a good string sound if you can't play chords with it

I think if I remember the article, it was future music, and he was essentially paid by Korg to endorse the prophecy, but actually thought it was a lump of shit, and when the contract ran out, he said so.

I'm pretty sure I saw a 909. And someone in a shell suit.
Thank you for the laughs, debate, new music found, production tips etc etc over the years. I wish Subsekt and everyone all the best for the future. Wiu.

Gotta love Jilted Generation. It's the only one that really stands up. Samples and presets is fine if you know what you're up to. The newer stuff is just embarrassing.

I like both Jilted Generation and the next album. After that they kinda fell off, or lost their edge, whatever it is exactly.
