how can i desing this kind of glide bleep
Re: how can i desing this kind of glide bleep
my mamma always told me to stay away from them Swedish boys.Lost to the Void wrote: there was also some drama with the swedes at the time, but I can`t remember what happened there.
Anyway....
when I was just a little boy she used to tell me over and over again :
"Son, if they're called Vattias or Sfen, they're just nothing but trouble, so you leave them boys alone, you hear me !"
Seriously though, my brain is feeling like scrambled eggs from reading that explanation.
And you have my sincerest apologies for me making a joke out of your honest explanation of something that went wrong with a lot of people in a bad time period many many moons ago.
But Jezus, how long ago did all of this happen ?
And I mean : so what if person A once has (had !!) a problem with person B in 2005 ?
We're 2015 now, shouldn't people be judged by who they are now, and what they say/do now ?
People change, times change.
There will always be stupid people though.
More stupid people than intelligent people, that much I've learned even without my mammy telling me so.

Yes of, course, you are completely right.
I prefer to air the shit, have a fight, and then go for beer....
I nearly came to blows with lawrie immersion years ago, back when he was still out doing illegal raves.
His crew broke in to our party, so they could get in to the building next door to party it themselves. Well there is a lot more to it than that, but there was an almighty row between crews, and lawrie made the mistake of saying "do you know who I am?", I was keeping the peace until that point, and I cracked. Luckily my mates dragged me away.
About a month later he was helping me reign in my best mate who was out on a warpath with a Stilson wrench, going after the head of the crew who's building we were all doing a huuuuge rave in, again, it's a long story..... I was stressed, and he really helped me out that day.
I spoke to him about it all years later, whilst he was cutting a record of mine.
He just laughed and said "well, bollocks, it was all fun ey?"
I got plenty respect for Mr immersion, he's similar to me, cantankerous as fuck,
doesn't bow down to anyone, but doesn't bare any grudges.
I think all the carnage of the noughties has all well and truly passed under the bridge.
I think only the most fragile of egos has kept shit over from those times.
there were a lot of casualties unfortunately, some good people forced out of the game, promoters, producers, labels.......
It's hard to tell, so many people don't really say what they feel, it's like that YouTube video of guetta and tiesto in a room together talking about Vegas smiling through bared teeth at each other......
I don't wish any ill on anyone, I'll happily drink a beer with anyone I've had a barney with, but I never hide my feelings.
.
.
apart from Tony vieria, but to get to him you'd need to join the que of peeps wanting to cut his arms off. But then a lot of distributors cut and run with people's monies in that period.

I remember that. It was the launch of Magnetics I think.Lost to the Void wrote:

That`s as far as it went I think, he made his points about not wanting to change for the moment, kicked my ass over it a bit, and it was all over, I certainly had no problem with him personally prior to or following it, there was no beef, at least not from my side.

Also, Glenn been doing many gigs the last years (and showing up).
The Swede drama you mention is a hidden classic, which have more to do with the Swedes rather then Glenn. His record store was highly involved.

As to who`s to blame, it really depends who you believe.
I don`t think the real truth will ever come out.
It doesn`t matter now, but those years were full of those stories.
It was a really weird time.
All the shenanigans that happened, so many people got fucked, and so many people fell out, There was the integrale musique incident, Infectious/Kinetec incident, Neuton Incident, the many many problems involving Prime, Discomania, Drizzly, Amato, Intergroove etc etc, many I have forgotten. It was like the whole scene was dancing through a minefield, and it got worse as the money pool thinned out and people were essentially fighting over scraps like junkyard dogs.
You know when prime went down for the very last time, the staff were so fucked they literally looted the warehouse, took all the computers etc
Weird times.
What happened to the Tonal Path project?

Yeah tons of problems with the distro crash as you mention. We got fucked as well when that happened, in our case it was with Neuton.
I think those who had it worst was the people working with (and for) Prime.
Tonal Path been on ice since mid 2011. Only time will tell if it's gonna go back up again, it wasn't meant to deliver constant output. Fun times all in all

I don't know anything about these little tug of wars but there was a time when every record I picked up had the Prime stamp on it.

It is a truly insane place and everything hunter s Thompson said about it is true.
A whole city that exists purely for debauchery, there is literally no other reason for it being there right in the middle of the desert.
you leave that place with a really weird buzz, it fucks your head.
Re: how can i desing this kind of glide bleep
Years ago I was travelling from Detroit to LA, seeing the Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park,
driving back through Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico,...
I took black 'n white pics of my whole trip, shot some wonderful views,
but I swear Vegas does NOT look good on black 'n white pics, no matter how great contents of the pic is.
And this was years before digital camera's, when people were actually buying black 'n white film rolls,
not selecting some option on their digital camera's or smartphones.
It must be truely depressing for the people who actually live there though. You know, the folks who work the casino's, restaurants (1$ breakfast !!), bars,...
You live in some suburb shithole out in the middle of the desert, and the nearest place with some soul is like 7 hours driving away from where you are.
Vegas is utter crap for anyone with some soul or heart into their body.
Reno must be pretty much the same, perhaps 1 hour closer to civilisation, but the same shit otherwise.
tumbleweeds are about the only natural "green" you see in all of Nevada.
Whenever I passed a gas station in the middle of nowhere I always wondered where the people that worked there actually lived (if there wasn't a house next to the gas station).

Re: how can i desing this kind of glide bleep
I loved Nevada, Utah, Arizona especially, I love the high desert out there, my fave place on earth. The austere beauty is something I find very peaceful and reassuring. That barren timeless enormity.
But yeah, Vegas is just wrong, everything about it feels false and desperate. It could only exist in America, I just don't think it would work in any other country in quite the same way. That clash of utter desolation, desperation, and money. It just sits there in the desert, like some twisted Sarlac pit, sucking down money and souls.
If you approach from LA on the freeway up from baker there is that moment when you are above it, looking down on the vast desert plain, and it just sits there in the middle of that nothing like some weird cancerous growth.
The horror.
But I also found LA to be an utterly soulless city (Been there 4 times now, 3 of those times were for long stays). It has no heart, no centre, no character, just an endless urban sprawl of cloned houses and strip malls, full of people desperate for fame and recognition, and the wealthy so unconvinced by their own success they display their wealth with utter desperation and abandon. It's like one big city taking a selfie of itself convinced it is pretty, when it ugly from the surface to the core. You can smell the desperation.
It's probably why I don't like Berlin, which is far more attractive to look at but it is like the electronic music version of Hollywood. Stinking desperation and self obsession.
Whenever I travel to cities I always picture if I could live there, and there is always something that makes me say "yeah, I could live here", but LA and Vegas, only places I have said "nope nothing here for me, this place has no soul"

This has nothing to do with the city itself. It's because of all the cunts which moved here to smell Jeff Mills sweat. Crap city was indeed a beautiful place to live in the 90's, now it's one big fake urban shithole.Lost to the Void wrote:It's probably why I don't like Berlin, which is far more attractive to look at but it is like the electronic music version of Hollywood. I did the trip I described above pretty much 3x, first time when I was 15, last time when I was 20 years old.
It was only the 3rd time we had the chance to drive through far enough to reach the West Coast, and we had to chose between LA and San Francisco.
For some stupid reason I really wanted to see LA, and I just hated it.
Everyone else at the time wanted San Francisco, and it was the only moment in our trip where I put up my veto and said "look guys, for all the rest of the trip, you can chose whatever you want, cause I've seen most of it already, but I really wanna see LA", damn was I ever an idiot.
Only positive side was driving on the highway (not really highway officially I think) that runs next to (and mostly high above) the California shoreline,
absolutely lovely view. One of the best roads I ever drove on.
But yeah LA, such a shallow empty city, with no real "places" like a decent city centre or whatever. Very strange place.
Drivig through Beverly Hills was a funny sight though...

Re: how can i desing this kind of glide bleep
I've been meaning to go back to the states for a long roadtrip, but I want my children to have become a bit older, so they can remember things properly.
First time my parents took us kids to Canada and the US to visit our Canadian relatives was when I was 10 years old, and I have to say I still remember lots of that trip.
But this time I really wanna see New Orleans and the deep south, and drive back north via the East Coast.
Ever been to New Orleans or New York Steve ?
I would LOVE to see New Orleans.
To me it seems like it's a city that's somehow totally non-American, and I would love the Southern food (and of course the music).
I always stress to people that if they really want to get to know the states, they gotta do a proper road trip. I mean, obviously there are differences between states (and some that are of course totally different from the rest like Alaska or Hawaii),
but the first thing that you notice when you see many of them, is more of the same everywhere.
More malls, always the same fast food places everywhere : McD, KFC, Arby's Wendy's, Taco Bells,...
oh yeah, and the FAT people of course
not fat like European fat people, but really really gigantically fat.
Only places like LA and Miami don't seem to have many of them, but everywhere else they are everywhere you look.
I remember when we did our first road trip we could still find salad bars in most of those fast food places.
By the time we did our 3rd road trip most of them didn't have salad bars no more.
It's like they just want their whole population to be enormous. Their whole food culture is based on FAT.
They would advertise : "big menu's for big kids" and all I could think of was "yeah, FAT menu's for FAT kids"

Re: how can i desing this kind of glide bleep
No, not done New Orleans. Not interested in New York at all, it's just a big shithole, but New England and the East Coast interests me.
I want to see Virginia and the Appalachian trail.
My dad used to work for McDonnell Douglas in LA so I went out there a lot in my teens to stay. Then went there again as my label partner moved there, and I stayed in Hollywood with him for a bit. We used to go on desert drives a lot (the anger barrigo desert, when the cactus are In bloom is amazing) as my dad was a real wilderness man, and that is when I fell in love with all of that. So I've seen the painted desert, Death Valley, monument valley, Grand Canyon of course, the petrified forest, the black volcanic deserts west of flagstaff, meteor crater etc. The the last time I was out there was after my dad died so we got a car and retraced a lot of the trips he took me on over the years.
Did the Pacific Coast highway up to Monterey, really wished we kept going to San fran, but we went in to the sequoia national park instead.
Me and the missus have been talking about going back to the states and going coast to coast by train, but I would also like to do the same in Canada so dunno.
If I do go back to the states I think I would like to see New England, Salem, Rhode Island etc. But I kinda don't want to set foot there again because of my political views with the country. I sorta would like to see New Orleans, but realistically I think I've done my last trip to the states now, unless the country drastically changes politically.
I want to see Virginia and the Appalachian trail.
My dad used to work for McDonnell Douglas in LA so I went out there a lot in my teens to stay. Then went there again as my label partner moved there, and I stayed in Hollywood with him for a bit. Re: how can i desing this kind of glide bleep
I know exactly what you mean.
I had enough chances earlier to go back, but the last 10 years or so I really started to hate the country so much.
I mean, I remember I was always laughing with their customs.
I worked in tobacco harvest in Ontario for 2 summers when I was at univ, and I used to land in Detroit and then go straight back to good old Canada.
I had all the necessary papers to prove that I wasn't even staying in the US for longer than a few hours, yet they would always keep me there for hours questioning me about my "reasons for coming to the US".
"for fuck's sake, I'm from Europe, from one of the western European countries with a "normal" economy, so I'm NOT AT ALL interested in ever staying or living in the US longer than a few weeks. I couldn't possibly live in yoir country !"
then they'd look at me real mad and tell me not to swear...
then they'd ask me for the 10th time whether I had something hidden in my luggage
"yes sir, 10k of horse !"
then they'd get even more pissed off and search my luggage again : "you don't make jokes about that sir !"
and that was over 15 years ago. Reply to them like that now and they just put you in a jail cell or on the next flight home.
bye bye nice roadtrip.
You know, in Europe, you can still kind of make fun with stupid customs or cops or whatever and you'd still have certain rights.
Not in countries like Russia perhaps, but I've been in enough countries to know they'd still treat you with a certain amount of "respect".
In the US you can just get shot to death by cops for nothing at all. And it's getting worse every year.
And I just can't keep my mouth shut if they ask me the same stupid questions over and over again.
Anyways, yes, Pacific Coast highway, that's the one I meant, wonderful view, isn't it ?
I definitely want to see New England some day, even Alaska interests me, except all the nutheads and trashy people go and live there.
I always say the biggest difference between US and Europe is nature versus culture. That's it in a nutshell.
fuck me, you saw those sequoia trees ! How the fuck was that ?
Must have felt so impressive you would hardly dare to take a piss against a tree like that...
