I like it a bit dangerous.
Re: Writers Block
I always wandered why some people would pick those ugly hookers when there are at least decent ones. Now I know. It's like the cheap audio interfaces. But in those more expensive, converters make the difference. You got also more ins/outs. Doesn't apply to hookers.

Re: Writers Block
Now you're just talking bollocks.
This was a serious thread.
Drop your wobbly cock and go home until you learn what it's like to be a real man, surfing the edge of life on a wave of swamp donkey whores from hell.

In writers block I tend to do sound design.

Just spent some time here reading posts, read manuals from your hardware/software, find some cool new music, visit some friends who make music, those are things I do if it happens, I just need to inspire myself

Re: Writers Block
I have had a 'writers block' for almost a year. The 'really have a got at it' did help a lot, now all i need to do is not get rid of the awful pain i have, i need the pain to be creative!

skip to like 1:50 (though as usual the rest is pure gold as well... but you gotta love an American saying stuff like that, way to go !) :Lost to the Void wrote:You could also watch some seriously close to the edge porn. Like reeeeaaaallllyyy wrong, but not quite illegal.
And wank furiously, like, FURIOUSLY, to the point where you can`t any more.
Then think about what you just did, really hard.
The resulting guilt, the wrong-ness and feeling dirty will give you an emotional edge to work with.
See how you like that, muse, you fucking bitch, leave me, see if I care.
You`ll be back, you bitch, yooooou`ll be back, I can always find other women to please me.......

now he's been together with another guy for close to 15 years and they've just adopted their first kid,
obviously, it had to be a girl. I'm already joking to them what they are planning to do when she has her first periods...
2 gay men being a semi-slave to a tiny little girl.
Such a great sight !

Re: Writers Block
problem is though : I can laugh all I want, they just rationally reply :
even if our 2nd one turns out to be another girl, it'll still be 50/50.
Then I can't help but turn numb...

Re: Writers Block
I guess all important things have been said by others here before.
Honestly, I never have this problem, I always have the opposite : 95% of my tracks never get finished, and the more I get back to my unfinished stuff, the more I get frustrated because I lack the time to properly dive into them and sculpt them into some semi-wannabe-diamant from a rough piece of sculptured glass/stone.
But yeah, if I would have this problem, I'd go and do the following :
1) read a few manuals of sometimes very expensive gear I got in the last 3 years. I used to be a maniac when it came to reading manuals, but yeah, after so many years you do get the hang of working with different pieces of gear and different interfaces. And I just lack the time to rea every manual nowadays. But this "experience with many pieces of gear" gives you a false feeling of safety, cause there is still things you'll never learn of a certain piece of gear untill you've read the manual from A to Z, especially if the manual is very well written (which usually isn't the case, but this has become far better over the years)
2) record new samples/field recordings.
3) organize samples, or downloaded DJ sets / livesets. Always new gems/sources of inspiration to be discovered here.
4) listen and analyze music you love, write down ideas you get from listening to these.
5) organize your record collection, discover hidden gems you've totally forgotten you ever bought them
...
but anyway, now that SC has finally uploaded my full track in wav format (converting to MP3 gave me trouble, don't know why, but after perfecting a mix for more than 40 hours I sure as hell didn't feel like having the result wasted by fucking convertor problems), I'm out of here to fetch my kids from school.
Yesterday I arrived 10 minutes too late, and my youngest was already crying big tears cause she thought I wasn't coming.
The only thing worse than seeing your mrs crying is seeing your daughters crying when you know it's real innocent tears and not some crocodile stunt to ask for free cookies...
First track I did using field recordings of one of my kids recorded many years ago btw...

Re: Writers Block
in any case, as I just learned from investing far too much time into the arrangment/mixing of my last track : it's all about putting in the hours.
So even if you don't actively make something new, you can always learn by spending hours in the studio trying out new stuff or learning about a certain piece of gear or certain technique !!
