I think you could try filtering up the synth without taking out the bass. Maybe go for only 2-3 major breakdowns?

I like it. Less short breakdowns would make it sounds more straigthforward, that could fit ! Good tune

Like this sound too;
I would try variations on the midi for the synth part.I felt it was slightly repetitive to have it play across the whole track.You could even try the same on the bass to see how it throws the rhythm around ,All its gotta be is short pattern lengths.
