What Monitors / Headphones do you use?

Yamaha H8 and HS8 sub, Senheiser HD 25s. I also have a pair of aiaiai headphones. I only use headphones to DJ.

Problem solved it seems somebody rescued them. It was obvious they released too many models, stupid low end shit trying to compete with Rokits etc, and it was confusing, instead of focusing on what they do best in a few higher end models.

Update on Adam speakers:
In short, the growth of the company has been to fast and to large. They introduced a lot of new models and. They had issues with payments from clients. So they just didnt sell enough with direct income. What resulted in a loss and bankrupt. But they will continue !

They try to continue and deliver again in January.

Ps. I looked this up and didn't know one of the formal owners of Adam Left in 2010 to start Another monitor line/brand. Called "Eve ('s) Audio". I see what he did there..

I would like to know what you think about Yamahas HS8. I have worked with adams A7s in the past. I was thinking about getting Adams (maybe Ax8) but if the yamahas are very neutral (so I have heard) and nice to mix on (and price is better), I would maybe give them a chance. I can buy Adams (or something else) later. To sum up, would you advise me yamahas HS8 for techno production.

I use the Yamaha HS80M (the previous version) and am quite happy with them. Never heard those Adams so I cant compare

I was actually in a studio that had them a few weeks ago.

I was expecting typical yamaha, but was actually surprised at the richness of the sound, not mid-forward as I thought they would be.
They are definitely not neutral, they have quite a full low end, very much like the old spirit absolute 2`s (which became a studio standard in the late 90`s/early 000`s when the old NS10`s got phased out).

I really can`t recommend any nearfields with 8 inch drivers though, it puts too much strain on the tweaters in areas they can`t quite capture in the mids, and the bigger drivers don`t handle low mids as well..
Yes you get more low end wack, but it sacrifices mid range detail, and in nearfields, mid range detail is everything.

Saying that, they are an amazing monitor for the price, adams are better, but obviously more money, and again I would go for the A7 and not the A8.

I will propably go with yamaha though, and maybe later invest in proper soundcard. But I will surely listen to them before, I will visit a friend who has them.

I don't think you will be dissapointed with them, like I said, the quality of them really surprised me, but don't get em if your room is really small.

I have done some more research, and I am wondering what do you think about Equator D8? They are still in my price range, and some people like them even better than ADAM, would you agree?

You're not alone. I have those as well. But I also have Krk KNS 8400 headphones, which I use more than my monitors.

I'm sorry, but before I drop into a total coma for the next 6 hours,
what exactly is your question ?
does a better soundcard really makes a difference ?
yes, it totally does !!
but only if the rest of your "basic sound chain" is up to the same level.

honestly, after having paid so much for HW and SW over the years, and after having bought (and sold) almost 25+ synths in the last 20 years (only counting HW), I can't stress the fact enough that FAR FAR more than what kind of synth you're using, it does matter of what quality your sound chain is :
monitors (acoustic treatment of your room yes or no ? obviously preferably yes), headphones (you don't need acoustic treatment, please do consider this option if you only rent an appartment or lack the cash for decent monitors), mixer, soundcard,...
all that is far more important than whatever synth/sampler you use.

just my 2cts (which costed me a lot of cash to find out)
