Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
i'm thinking about getting the sampler. does anybody know whether all those knobs can be MIDI-mapped to control, for instance, Ableton devices? that would be perfect...
Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
I don't see why that wouldn't be possible.aliasweber wrote:i'm thinking about getting the sampler. does anybody know whether all those knobs can be MIDI-mapped to control, for instance, Ableton devices? that would be perfect...
If the knobs send out MIDI information (which they would normally do, even if it would be just to record automation in your sequencer), you can use them to control other stuff if you map it in Live.
I just tried it out quickly with mapping a few knobs from my A6 to analog.
I hit "command-M" (ctrl for non-mac users), clicked on the knob I wanted to control, turned a knob on my A6, and presto.
Only problem was apparantly the knobs of my A6 were using the same CC number.
But yes, theoretically, this should be easily done.
And the more modern the gear you have, the less problems this should give you.
I presume you won't even be needing a MIDI cable with the Korg, you'll be transferring via USB most likely.

Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
thanks for the input Hades, what you suggest should work fine I think. I always wanted a cool little hardware sampler but will probably never be able to afford an OT, so I'll definitely try out one of these.
Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
The knobs on the emx/esx can be programmed to send whatever cc (up to 96 I think?), but the buttons send custom nprm messages which are a pain in the arse. So, not many points to korg there in terms of playing nice with other gear. Do korg have a reputation for improving on their mistakes?

Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
Hi guys,
I consider to buy the electribe to trigger a synth for arps/sequences. My question is, if anybody has experience with triggering synths with the tribe? Is the roll function essential for it? The new version doesn't have it, but I prefer to buy the new one because DAW communication is easier with it.
Thank you!

Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
Well that video clip cleared up a few things.
The case is metal!
I hope the nobs aren't surface mounted like they were in the first series, that was the weak spot.
This actually looks pretty great, korg on it again.
But why is it grey? Grey nobs grey case.
It looks like the korg tedium 1 polyphonic spread sheet accounting unit.

Don't forget the flashy lights on the bottom :/
Thank you for the laughs, debate, new music found, production tips etc etc over the years. I wish Subsekt and everyone all the best for the future. Wiu.

Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
Sorry for the noob question (i´m a itb guy:)), but will it be possible to make patterns like this one (drums and synth) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JycfuuA6q2Y or is it annoying because of the padbuttons? thanks

Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
I can`t see any reason why not, there is nothing unusual about the patterns in the link you gave
Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
Most of the demos online make it sound pretty horrible, use very commercial sounds etc. I found this one thats all Elektribe sounds a bit better.

Hi Willemb,
no I made a lucky deal with the old pink esx. Haven´t checked it out yet, but I am going to dive into it in November. What this guy does to the ESX is pretty nuts!

The best video of the new one I found, is this

And this reminds me of the old Trentemöller Tracks youtu.be/U6OFxrPPwK0
Ah sorry, it´s not the sampler...

Re: New Korg Electribe + Sampler
I just got the electribe sampler second hand. Still learning my way around the workflow and menus.
So far I find the effects disappointing. I was just trying to build an atmosphere with a dub type chord as a little practice, but the reverb is just not carrying the low passed saw very far at all, there are some delays but there doesn't seem to be a lot of detailed control. The "punch" effect does work quite nice on percussion.
I guess the export feature will come in useful here. Its going to be either make some stuff on the electribe and export it. Either via SD card/USB to add better effects and sequence the track in my DAW, or manually track by track through external effects. Alternatively in running a jam, I will just send out 1 stereo or 2 mono tracks through relevant pedals into my mixer.
It looks like it will fulfil its purpose in my setup though, sequencing sample based percussion and resampled sounds, and being able to sequence polyphony/chords internally and externally.
Also nice how its got trigger sequencing jack connections, so i can just route a rimshot from another drum machine rather than sacrifice a midi cable.
