If your mixer has inserts you may be able to feed the audio to the next channel by connecting a cable halfway into the insert jack which basically works the same way as a direct out. Haven't ever done it myself but I know others that have without any issues.

I know this story that involved two guys I used to know...
First guy told 2nd guy (some crazy russian) he could get 4 e's for free if he swallowed them all down in 15 minutes.
