Stringy Things

Post by Bromi »

Whats up guys,

Trying to figure out how to make this high string noise that starts creeping up in the intro, it pitches up in attack every now and then.

I have literally no idea how to do it is but ive heard it in quite a few tracks any advice how to recreate?

Thanks Gents!

hahaha - Not sure if its totally what we were talking about :D

We were chatting about the Arp / Solina / Sting Ensemble that you'd hear on tracks like Madonna's Vogue. Normally its a higher sound.. that track has a lower & moodier vibe. Not sure if its that actualstring sound only played lower down. Matched the note in Fxpansions Amber which has an 'old solina' preset... but dunno.

Theres 2 sounds anyway.. a stringy / pad thing & a tech house riser.

The "string" in the begining of this is 2 sounds, there`s the drone sitting underneath, kinda like a cyclic organ sound playing a constant. Could be done with any type of analog style synth or synthesis.
The high string over the top could be a sample or just a digital string on, again, probably anything.
It`s the combination of those two sounds that are doing the thing though. That phasey organ is adding movement underneath the high string.
You wouldn`t need a solina or old mellotron or anything that specific.

The CS80 would do the strings nicely.

Anything for the organ.

Jeez man... dont be rash & buy software just for a string sound!! Check online.. there will be some sample packs / sampler intruments that you can DL.

As Steve said.. anything will do. Its a layer. Get some strings up high & something down low. Jobs a good 'un.
