The novelty will wear of quickly but out of the ton that I have had I've always like "tonepad" and
"technobox" which is a 909,808,303 emulator

Modular is a fun modular synth thats free with the basic modules. extra modules cost money
DM1 is a quite capable drum machine
iMiachine is not bad
Moog Filtatron is good too
I recommend putting anything u are interested in on a watchlist. they often go on sale or are free for a weekend or so and u get a notification then. i dont really make music on my iphone. its too fiddly. but if an app is free or very cheap i still get them in case inspiration hits me on a longer train ride or something

iMaschine I good fun. Keeps you amused on trains, flights ect. Has lots of great sounds. Drums pads, piano roll. Plus you can export anything you make and put it in your daw.

Cheers men. Will check those out.
Unit - It was free. I really dont give a fuck. I wont pay stoopid money on something thats gonna get filled up with dead skin & eventually smashed &/or thrown into a box with all the other phones I've ever owned, never to be used again. Pointless. haha. FUCK.THAT!!
I know though.. iphone 4s - released in 2011? Its quite teh stone age, innit?

I have an iphone4G too. Its smashed to shit now. It broke even when it was inside a heavy duty Otterbox. Get of one of those its totally worth it. I likely dropped the thing 200 times or more before it broke. I think it only actually broke because it landed at just the right angle for the OB to impact on the corner of the phone to break the screen.
Oh yeah I almost forgot. The best music app I have ever found isn't actually a music making app per se but a music app none the less.
Music Theory Pro. From a Prof @ USC. Learn: Scales, chords, intervals, key signatures and ear training too. Its seriously comprehensive. Best part is it totally free and it also operates like a game that you can customize. Highly useful and very effective if you keep at it every day even if only for 15 minutes every day. Have a go with it.

Cool. Will check that out. Sounds like it could be useful haha
I had a HTC before this one. Was fucking great. No cover, but the back of the phone was a rubber case which extended down below where the menu buttons were down at the front. It came out curved & the phone appeared to consistently drop on that point each time - therefore saving it from smashing around 199 times The last occasion I dropped it was obviously enough too haha.
I hate cases.. but will get one now. This iphone looks like it will take zero abuse.

Impaktor.
IT`s quite amazing, the sound engine itself is wonderful, they should make a vst out of it, it works through the mic so you can finger tap your own beats in and then mangle each sound.
It`s very very techno.

Didnt know Impaktor. Just checked a video and it looks really fun! great idea for an app!
Re: Best / Worst Music Production Apps for Iphone?
Impaktor is fucking great. Seekbeats and beatmaker 2 are also worth a dabble.
Re: Best / Worst Music Production Apps for Iphone?
The iPhone is kinda limited cause of the screen size but as mentioned Impaktor is very nice. Also check out SpaceSampler, Figure, Funkbox, Nanoloop Lite, and the JL Audio spl meter is handy.

But now it managed to turn the title of this topic into: "Most Unexceptional / Vaguely Unpleasant Music Production Apps for Iphone?"

Re: Best / Worst Music Production Apps for Iphone?
beatwave can be kinda fun, if not a little cheesy. it's free at least.
+1 for impaktor, excellent and creative.
also check out the AUFX series of effects apps, nice reverb/delay to use with audiobus.
Has anyone used Mitosynth yet? It looks and sounds pretty cool from what I've seen...
