Netflix tips
Re: Netflix tips
I've recently started watching "Dark Net"...
Not of all episodes of the documentary are great,
but some are pretty damn disturbing to watch.
certainly worth the watch.

Re: Netflix tips
ooowwwww, Fargo, absolutely !!!
Though I gotta say I found the 3rd season a bit less than the 1st two seasons.
But yeah, it's like they looked at the Javier Bardem bad guy in "No Country For Old Men" and made different versions of him in the Fargo series.
Loved it.

I completely adored Mr Robot, but saw it before I got Netflix.
Not even sure if it's on the Belgian Netflix channel at all...

Re: Netflix tips
I think most of them are bought in productions rather than Netflix's own which means the quality varies a lot. I also agree some run too long, but then some such as Tickled, Bettering On Zero were intended for cinematic release first.Hades wrote:but I gotta say some of these Netflix documentaries are just boring shit.
The Atari one I saw was just shit. 45 mins on the history of Atari, which was great and 45 on excavating the ET landfill, who gives a fuck?
I really enjoyed the Hip Hip Connection one though, I watch a lot of music docs so takes a lot to impress me plus I've never been into hip hop that much either.
Re: Netflix tips
Just watched 2 of these tonight as I'd been meaning to see it and your post reminded me. Damn cgi is making sci fi look so good now. Really enjoyed both episodes!StacieAnne wrote:STAR TREK DISCOVERY

Re: Netflix tips
I thought this would be a take on the crappy grimdark everything explodes fast and the furious star trek and lense flare crap of JJ Abrahams.StacieAnne wrote:STAR TREK DISCOVERY
But so far I like it, it is quite serious, but I like it...... Although lense flare everywhere.........
Re: Netflix tips
I watched 2 last night and 2 today. Tore through it as it was really entertaining. Thought the same thing at first but feel like they've done a really good job with it and there's some cool bits which are pretty dark and remind me of dead space. Probably my fav thing since stranger things on netflix though I hardly watch netflix so not much to compare to.Lost to the Void wrote:I thought this would be a take on the crappy grimdark everything explodes fast and the furious star trek and lense flare crap of JJ Abrahams.StacieAnne wrote:STAR TREK DISCOVERY

Re: Netflix tips
recently watched the first series of True Detective, would recommend. dark and gritty, pretty addictive, nails that ominous vibe. also has some great music.
Re: Netflix tips
Too bad the second season is really underappreciated. Both Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell were perfect but I guess it didn't really live up to all the hype after the first season. I hope the writer will step up his game for the third one.slowpilgrim wrote:recently watched the first series of True Detective, would recommend. dark and gritty, pretty addictive, nails that ominous vibe. also has some great music.

It wasn't exactly the acting, but the extremely mediocre scenario (and all the massive holes in the plot) that made the 2nd season so bad compared to the 1st one...Monreal wrote:Too bad the second season is really underappreciated. Re: Netflix tips
There's this new show called Mindhunter about FBI profilers. David Fincher and Joe Penhall (who wrote The Road) are behind it, so I've got high expectations.
Anyone watched it yet?

Re: Netflix tips
He did not write it, he adapted it to big screen. Cormac McCarthy is the writer.
Re: Netflix tips
Touché. I should have paid more attention when reading about it on imdb.Monreal wrote:He did not write it, he adapted it to big screen. Cormac McCarthy is the writer.
Re: Netflix tips
You should read "Blood Meridian" from Cormac McCarthy.
Got translated into Dutch about 2 years ago.
Quite a dark trip of a book.

I always wonder what Cormac McCarthy is gonna tell his kid if he ever wants to read "The Road"...
"well son, that looks like a realistic near future"
