So I ended up pulling the trigger on the Monologue (I was comparing Dominion, Basstation 2, Mono Lancet16) after watching the Marc Doty series of videos on the Monologue features I was blown away and clicked buy.
The envelopes are really not a problem, and they have dealt with it in a clever way.
The LFO is insane, as are some of the routings. Very very clever synth, sounds great too.

God damn! That is sexy.
Voids your warranty, but I am seriously considering it.
Going to get white knobs too, think they will look great on my red mono.

Well, mine got delivered today, just spent a few hours playing with it.
It`s a really great synth, Korg have done it aqain, great synth at a silly price.
Doesn`t sound like the Minilogue. The Minilogue is a modern sounding poly that can sound vintage (like an old Mono/Poly in fact) but really shines with a modern sound.
The Mono has a much more vintage sound, but some modern features. The filter is lovely, and the way have have implemented the envelopes is very clever, on the surface it appears you have limited envelopes, but actually it`s not the case at all, it works very well.
Super fat and squelchy, I was getting lovely Obscurum/Early Regis sounds out of it. The final piece of my live PA puzzle.

I always wanted a Mono/Poly but those synths are quite expensive so I think maybe the Minilogue would be appropriate but I hate mini keys.
How are the keys on the monologue Steve?
There's also a Dominion Club coming; I guess that will be a nice synth as well if mfb got the interface right and user friendly.

I love my Minilogue. It was my first synth and as soon as I got it I had no idea it was capable of with a little bit of menu diving.

What helped me a lot to get started really fast with it was a Minilogue tutorial I bought at the time:

Yeah the Dominion club was on my short list but it just didn't measure up for me in the end. Didn't like the oscillators and it's a really shitty box construction with cheap crappy nobs and print. It just looks and feels cheap even though it sounds ok.

Minikeys don't bother me. I'm not a virtuoso but I can play them fine with my big fucking gorilla hands.

Much better than you would think just by staring at the front panel.
It's best explained in these videos.
If you watch the whole series by Marc Doty on his monologue breakdown, you'll probably end up buying one. It's what sold me.

Essentially of the 3 envelope types, one of them sets the amp to gate, so that the attack and decay can be assigned to the filter or whatever, meaning you still get a dual envelope for some purposes. Very clever.

I decided not to get any mini/monologues.

I badly need a new computer & just bought a sh01a. Theres a finite amout of money in the pot.

Really interested in the sh for the synth & sequencing. That's the sound I wanted I the end I reckon. Will demo it anyway & see.

Didn't get to try out the Korgs in the end. They weren't in stock in the shop I was going to drop into.

I've been wanting a Minilogue and have nearly got the cash now. I do have a question for owners of the mini or monologue though. When sequencing them externally (my intention), is it still very straightforward to use the motion recording? Aside from the sound of them, this is one of the standout features for me so just wanted to see if it will work the way I assume it will, which is I can select a patch, play notes externally, but have the 1 bar recording of knob movements play as well. Also, less important but still of interest, can patches be changed by program change messages?

Thanks in advance.

Small mod to my mono, only thing I didn`t like was the knobs, same as the minilogue, you can`t really tell at a glance (especially in the dark) where your nobs are pointed.
