I'm thinking of upping the minimum post count, because this shit gets annoying. No offence intended, Swiss Pig, but we get this a lot and we get a lot of token posts to get past 10 and then never hear from people ever again.

50 posts might be more appropriate...

50 might be a bit much, 25-30 seems reasonable, we can always do a search in the posts to see if people are putting in genuine effort to interact.

10 is enough to know if the person has a genuine interesting in contributing to the forum or not; obviously 10 posts of "nice track" "nice going" "good" tells you what that person is about and wither or not they're "legally entitled" to post their music after this threshold, is of little consequence.
Plus, increasing this rule won't make much difference if in most cases, people break this rule becasue they didn't read it.
Not reading a "10 posts rule" is no different to not reading a "20 posts rule".
No one in the passed few months (this poster included) has posted music saying "I know there a 10 post rule, but I want to post this anyways"
it's always because they didn't read it.

There is no need to be more prohibitive then waiting until after 10 posts, to someone who might want to join just for giving and receiving feedback.

I joined a forum recently (different genre of music), because I was recently focusing on that type of music.
Now obviously, focusing on that type of music I was creating some of it at that time, but their rules regarding putting up and sharing your own work was so outrageous I just though "pff, these guys can stick their clique up their arse" and never went back.

See.. ultimately, we'd prefer to get people chatting; rather them treating subsekt like a lamp post in a frenzy to scent mark the internet with their music.

Discussion has always had the priority for us. Folk who want to chat.. or read.. have stayed about longer than those who are link building. It's a better place without that kind of relentless, selfish spammy traffic.

The attitude is usually pretty fair here. I think it's normal in life to be able to delay gratification in order to get something worthwhile. Might be an alien concept to some of the lotus eaters that decide to register just to post their music.. but its the same situation on subsekt as in 'the real world'; you have to build a rapport to engage the goodwill of members. It's not just for our benefit.. it's for theirs also.

Philosophy aside, this really isn't true. We've had more than one person act all model Subsekt member for their 10 posts then dump their track in here before never being heard from again. This sub-forum is very healthy (imo) and us adapting to it is part of that, we haven't always had it as well marshalled as it is now.
