Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
FYI
My fave tape/space delay/dub effect "Dub Machines" by surrealmachines.com is available as VST/AU now. You can currently get one of the two plugins Diffuse for free.
That's what it sounds like:

(Dunno why the SC embed doesn't work)

Sweet, will try. Are they both based on the space echo? They don't say which machines they are modeled after.
Re: Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
Both effects contain models of a range of devices and flavours, inspired by old hardware units as well as own approaches. Lots of demos in the set to give you an idea:

Anyone else having trouble with the serial code for diffuse? VST seems neat but I can't try it out right now.
Edit: Fixed it, the serial is also on your account page at surrealmachines.com.

they're working on it.
Re: Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
I was just wondering because one of the M4L ones was modelled specifically after the space echo, right? The diffusion one is pretty neat from a quick test although I have to use a bit more to see if it has a place in my setup.rktic wrote:Both effects contain models of a range of devices and flavours, inspired by old hardware units as well as own approaches. Yes, but they also included a number of alternatives. The VST versions extend that.dubdub wrote:I was just wondering because one of the M4L ones was modelled specifically after the space echo, right? Just tried it on the kick for some background rumble. Super easy to dial in a variety of usable bits. Seems legit.
Re: Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
thx for this, will try it out tomorrow!
Re: Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
I did some more testing on Diffuse and it's nice enough but I don't think I really need it in my setup. Don't really need it as a delay and I'm not really craving for another reverb. The dub input knob thing is a very nice for dub-style effects though.
Downloaded the Modnetic demo and it sounds more promising. I love that it has a 501 model, I've always wanted one and I haven't come across any other other plugin that has one. Although the 501 chorus isn't as amazing as I hoped it would be. The others chorus models are sweet though, same with the phaser and flanger. Would be nice to be able to run to two FX at the same time.
I would like to know what the 'stereo' and '404' spring reverbs were modelled after because they sound gorgeous, so liquid sounding.
What I don't like - The synced delay times are a bit confusing. The noise doesn't get loud enough for full on dub hiss, even at the max setting. The feedback doesn't really get violent unless you crank it way up, but I guess that's by design. It also kills a bit too much highend for my taste but then again that's obviously intentional. It's definitely great for that murky authentic dub sound though.

Have been using the m4l devices in every project for like a year, love to automate the hold button on magnetic.

Re: Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
This is a great freebie, thanks for the nod.
Re: Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
I picked Modnetic up in the recent sale, it sounds incredible..
Re: Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
Don't know, i grabbed diffuse last year but i find myself not using it. Don't know why really, but my echoboy does the job all the time.
Re: Surrealmachines Dub Machines VST/AU out now
Diffuse I don't really use either, it sits in a bit of an awkward spot where other delays and reverbs would usually do the job. Modnetic however I use a lot, it sounds way more authentic (in terms of tape echo) than Echoboy, IMO (which still sounds good, mind you).
