Its a drummachine.

Why i bought it is because I have had multiple drummachines in my life and after a certain amount of time the sounds seems to get wasted on me and sometimes they need to go.

With this in mind I bought the digitakt, not for fancy elektron style nuder the hood features but to sample the drummachines I have, sequence the samples with the most awesome sequencer there is and get shit done while doing so.

That way I can fill the blank canvas that is the digitakt to be the drummachine customized for me and carry all my sampled drumachines with me at all times.

  It does look like some serious fun that box, best real time controls on a sampler ever?

Man it's like it's raining synth's from Super Booth! Deepmind 6 I think it'll be hard to pass on that one.

The individual channels are mono but it outputs stereo, no?

And aren't individual tracks on drum machines normally mono?

yeah output is stereo, due to the delay and reverb send/return

I'm going to enjoy this unit so much.

They nailed it imo. Perfect balance of limitation and workflow.

The section starting at 26:00 in the Cuckoo vid is nice.

What is Cenk doing when he says recording the sample changes in realtime?
Can that be done in the Rytm too?

i know it is a sampler and it is up to you as to what goes in and hence what comes out but Elektron always seems to sound like....Elektron. I see Cenk demoing the boxes and it sounds so boring and Elektron brand, always.
Is it the punch or filter or sequencer? Not sure but they always sound like this.
Digitakt is kind of an Octatrack Jr. Sure some new features, updated display etc but it still seems like an entry point OT or stripped down version for a knockabout live situation.
Elektron can do whatever they like but yeah it's hardly inspiring. And the way they pace the releases of products with restriction and compliment in features kind of reminds of the Apple business model.

I'll never going to understand why they've called it a Digital Drumcomputer AND Sampler.

It's a Sampler not a Drumcomputer. Period.

Bought myself the Akai MPC live which kinda pisses all over the Digitwat from a great height and then takes a dump just to make sure.
It is 200 jib more expensive though.....so probably not a fair comparison.

The MPC looks like a nice piece of kit. Let us know how you go once you've had a bit of a play.
