Computer/Future Music: In The Studio / Producer Masterclass

Post by Críoch »

I'm not in the habit of buying either of these any more tbh..

But, when I saw that James Wiltshire of Freemasons was doing one, I figured I'd buy it straight away. Though the music they make is not always to my taste, I respect what they have achieved. JW is a knowledgeable chap. I like him.

Not sure if this is just a private link from the magazine so far.. but as it's being hosted on YT, I thought I'd share.

Freemasons / James Wiltshire / F9 Audio _ Production Masterclass.

Video has lots of interesting stuff in it. Very nice to see how he works. He has a good way of explaining stuff. Precise & efficient. SO helpful. The magazine is well worth getting as it comes with a heap of samples & project files for the track in Logic & Ableton.

Legend approach to getting his F9 Audio samples / company more widely known & either way, helping folk out is a great biproduct of diversification 8-)

BTW its a 'warehouse' kinda Tech-House track.

Has a nice tip for making a reverb kick using a kick sample you like.. as an IR in a convolution reverb.

Never thought of that before.

Just watched all of that and thoroughly enjoyed it. Quite surprised at the stuff I already do in term of arrangement and transitions. I can't can't be far off remixing Beyonce.

What he says at 124:50 is gold! It's really good to see how a pro is working, the same struggles they go through and doubts that they have about themselves lol.

I've never tried the chaining and parallel eq etc. And I'd like to try out the multi samples and mapping that he uses.

Where is his acoustic treatment. I can't see any visible signs of anything.

Look like a super-duper room mate. Built-in next level Borg technology. No bedroom vibez there.

I agree.. It is indeed a slog, but it's very helpful & insightful. I've actually watched it twice so far.. only getting about 3/4 to end both times as people came home / people thought I wanted to listen to them speak.
