paul slacknoise - Disco Diesel
It has been quite a while. Here some kind of ambient, chillout sound. quite satisfied with it. Any ideas for improvement always appreciated. cheers

Re: paul slacknoise - Disco Diesel
haha. good point. I never really think much about a title to be honest. For me its "just" techno. however, i think ambient doesnt describe the track too well either
Re: paul slacknoise - Disco Diesel
Great track. I like how it slowly progresses and it sounds unique as well. Would be hard pointing out anything to improve really.

thanks. really appreciated your feedback.
Re: paul slacknoise - Disco Diesel
Mix sounds a bit muddy, lacks some air. Kick is a bit clicky compared to the rest of the mix IMO, should be a bit more dubby/wooden.

what do you mean by "kick is a bit clicky compared to the rest of the mix". I do agree though and i am not 100% satisfied with the sound of the kick.
Re: paul slacknoise - Disco Diesel
I guess dubdub means that snappy attack that eats nearly the rest of the kick. I agree that a more dubby kick with more body would fit way better.

Re: paul slacknoise - Disco Diesel
allright. i will try to replace the kick with a more dubby one and see how it works out. I somehow like the aggressive fast attack kick and how it goes with the bassline, but ill see what i can do. Thanks a lot for the input.

Re: paul slacknoise - Disco Diesel
Did you compress the kick? It's a little too much for this kinda slow groovy track.

Re: paul slacknoise - Disco Diesel
so on the way compressing the kick i unfortunately lost a hihat which i somehow cannot restore. Sucks big time. Anyway some sounds have a bit more substance as well now. Thanks for your input all again.

I do not know how to create some air, but i know what you mean. Is it my mastering mixing?dubdub wrote:Mix sounds a bit muddy, lacks some air. Kick is a bit clicky compared to the rest of the mix IMO, should be a bit more dubby/wooden.

Looks like you need to update the SC link?
Re: paul slacknoise - Disco Diesel
Not bad stuff there, in my opinion it would sound a lot better if it were maybe 5bpm or more faster and had a bit more drive to it, maybe a crunchy filtered top loop over the top, bit more distortion/saturation on the low end, and perhaps a bit of a rolling sub-bassline underneath everything - although that may be my personal preference in the techno I've been listening to recently.
Good work!
