Ah man, an Immersion thread, this makes me very happy! He's been my favorite artist since I got into acid/techno in the late 90s.

Anyway, this is probably my all time fave of his work (although it is a collaboration with d.a.v.e the drummer) as well as the record that started off my vinyl collection:

Glad you liked it :)

Yeah, the A side is a definitely a classic but that side is one of those overlooked B sides which always gets people asking what the hell it is. Brilliant combo of Immersion filth and Henrys constant building and churning.

Talking of monsters...

Lawrie always was the most progressive of the SUF crowd.
Pounding Grooves the label is just legendary.
The first 14 releases are just pure destruction, evil and twisted, dark and fucked up.
Henry Cullen did have a hand to play in some of the early PG stuff, but Lawrie definitely steered the sound into his own twisted fuckeduppery.
Strange now that the Pounding Groove sound is re-emerging in a way with people like Blawan, though I think in a way with less conviction behind it.
I think he was ahead of his time with this stuff, not ravey enough for the acid techno heads, and too related to acid techno to be accepted by the snobby techno purists.
Love Lawrie, he`s a great guy, we butted heads in the illegal rave days, breaking buildings next to each other and, well, lots of chicanery to do with the competative nature of soundsystems back then that I won`t go in to, but it was done with respect and fun, and our common enemy was always the authorities.
I got a ton of respect for the man.

I used to, occasionally, do pounding grooves sets at our parties. Like an hour of nothing but pounding grooves and Technoslut at 10am on a sunday morning in a dirty warehouse. IT was a good way of really fucking shit up. And it sounds phenominal through 30K of Turbosound Floodlight Soundsystem.

PGV 011 is a beast, sounds like a train crossing points whilst exploding.

Also worth checking out the precursor to Pounding Grooves, which was his Technoslut label, super weird fucked up techno (at the time).

Very true. I'm still amazed by how big a genre, and rich with history it is.

great posts.

routemaster records where an great surce for heavy techno, all the realeses where phat and fun to collect (the logo was the bomb!) new colours on each release, you wanted all..
remember goa/trance label TIP records had the same colour concept each release had the same print but with diffrent colour scheme.
it was no doubt an important record label and source for alot of phat techno tools.

This thread takes me back.... A very large proportion of my vinyl collection is acid techno (nearly sold it all a year or so ago too).

Apart from his more obvious stuff I did love the stuff he put out on Techno Slut.

In any case Routemaster was always better than SUF IMHO. It always seemed just a little bit more dirty.
