Re: Question about the master volume
Nothing wrong with mixing into limiter, LOADS of us do it.... comes off when it goes to mastering though....

Analogue limiter maybe, why mix in to a digital limiter?, it brings nothing to the game except destruction.
I just can`t see one single point of doing it.

Re: Question about the master volume
I don't mix into a limiter myself, but I do know an/the advantage... you can hear which frequencies are too loud as they start to distort in the limiter. I.E. your subs are too loud / out of balance with the rest of the mix - when you pump them into a limiter on the master channel this becomes very obvious.

Subs will always take precedent though as they contain the most energy, it`s not an accurate way of judging your spectral balance.
Re: Question about the master volume
It's a crutch because some people are hacks like me but I'm gonna follow your advice and stop doing it Void, merry Christmas ya'll.
Re: Question about the master volume
Only time a limiter should be on a master bus at production stage is when all is "done" just to see how the mix holds together if it's being pushed two - three dB. Spot any problems if any then adjust and take away the limiter.

Re: Question about the master volume
After some time, the more experience you gain and the more you learn, the less you will need to utilize that technique.

Re: Question about the master volume
I never mixed into anything on the master. On the other hand I don't give a shit if people do so.
