I love pitching down sampled kicks, and stretching them out etc in ableton, just destroy them and get wicked weird kicks and basslines. Keep the transient intact but fuck with the rest....
Great to do if you wanna step away from the usual usual.

Yeah, kicks lend themselves to quite some mangling...
I really must give Ableton a try (not for the first time), i am feeling left out

All those crappy kicks in sample packs and in odd drum-machines are usually also the best ones for making nice pitch-kick rhythms and stuff.
