This is really cool concept. Basically an extended (6 hours in this case) improvised live set with 5+ producers with a laid-back atmosphere where everyone can drop in and out when they feel like it. Definitely a statement against musical narcissism since there is a lot of restraint, patience and trust needed so the music doesn't turn to shit with five people involved. The recording sounds really good musically, I'm actually quite surprised at how well it works. It always sounds like it's coming from one person, not from five.

Only listened to the first ten minutes but this is lovely. Matthew Jonson's style is instantly recognisable!

So basically they're learning what it's like to be in a band.

Well, bands generally a) stick to performing pre-written songs and b) regularily practice beforehand. This is more like an improv jam session between jazz musicians that have never played with each other before.Ben Kohonays wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 3:53 amSo basically they're learning what it's like to be in a band.

Pretty cool set. impressive that them managed to get it so coherent!

This will be the end of techno as we know it, and a reappearance of regressive prog-rock in electronic form. No thanks.
regressive prog, yeah. a new slur which is fully appropriate.

Yeah. I was thinking of the 'restraint and patience' that you don't need in a solo situation, having to allow space for other people.dubdub wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 10:18 amWell, bands generally a) stick to performing pre-written songs and b) regularily practice beforehand. Really lovely concept and just the perfect place to kick it off.
It was really exciting to be there for the start of it and it made a nice change to have something like that at Freero on the Sunday. I think one of my favourite things this year was actually MJ's live set on Saturday afternoon outside. Just lovely vibes.
More things like this please!!
