Coyu - Suara - Changing direction (slightly)
Coyu - Suara - Changing direction (slightly)
Thoughts on this?? It's a bit long, but doesn't take that long to get through. I still think a good song is a good song regardless of what genre it is considered to be in, but that's just my opinion.
Without knowing him personally, he seems to be a decent guy and whether it's a marketing ploy or not, it seems to be reasonable that he would rather promote/sell tracks that have 'soul' and that he doesn't think there is any soul in tech house anymore.

Never heard of him or the label.

I despise his music and his label (probably him too though I never met him) with all the power I have but he has a non profit organization for helping stray cats in Barcelona. And as a cat person I can't hate on this
So at least kudos to him for this:

Yeah that's worth talking about. He should stick to helping cats.

I just thought it was interesting in terms of what drives people to create what they create. For some it's a business primarily, for some it's all about the art, for some it's a mixture of both. How those that balance the two is what I thought was worth discussing.
But I guess the money vs art debate has been going for a long time and there's probably not much that can be added to that discussion at this point in time.
No hard feelings for those that aren't interested, don't like him or wondered why I posted the topic on Subsekt, it's all good.

Despite the popularity of commercial tech-house, I doubt running a label produces enough revenue for the need to launder money. And if it did, from my own experiences of volunteering for a cat welfare group the more traditional methods of a fast food joint or tanning salon would rank higher.winston wrote:how to launder money and avoid tax 101
Everyone else tl:dr - Sensing the writing is on the wall, the Spanish version of Bumload has changed tact in the last six months or so but nobody has noticed. Hence the owner writing a lengthy and impassioned post to say we're not just tech-house anymore.
Re: Coyu - Suara - Changing direction (slightly)
I have to say that I definitely liked his approach, not a fan of Suara, but its latest release (Dia Cero) gathered very good artists and there's nice tracks there. (although its basically the standard techno)
Re: Coyu - Suara - Changing direction (slightly)
i even have some suara tracks to play in the morning at psytrance parties.
not bad at all in my opinion, its just that techhouse melodic techno thing.
And i think these people are passionate about their music. anyway the whole ow look we are not so generic anymore bullshit gets on my nervs. i mean do what you do and stand for it. even if its techhouse or whatever.
if you want to change musical direction, just do it. no need to whine about it.
