I think minimal techno as a genre just took over where microhouse came from. The 2 are interchangeable in my book although minimal was ultimately less interesting ..
Microhouse became minimal or MNML, and then influenced techno. IT was kinda cheesy and obvious.

Minimalist music however, is something completely different, and can be any genre.
