By day - Electronics Engineer, working for 'the man'. At night my hobby is designing and building synths and noisy stuff, thinking about making money with it one day...

I'm an ICT specialist.
Nice, anything to show?asm wrote:By day - Electronics Engineer, working for 'the man'. At night my hobby is designing and building synths and noisy stuff, thinking about making money with it one day...
No, I'm about as productive in completing things as I am as a techno producer!dynamic wrote:Nice, anything to show?
Depends of course a bit on your education and stuff. For me things are difficult, 10 years ago I could find a job in a week any time.Pagan wrote:idk, things aren't that hard now in Finland tbh.
I'm an ICT specialist. It's ok, wish I was a marine biologist researching whale songs somewhere around the equator tho.

Maybe his current forum title has something to do with it...Root wrote:TimBuys wrote:My body.

I agree with that. Especially in IT. Scoring the first job is not too easy but once you got some experience on your resume it gets a lot easierPlyphon wrote:Barfunkel wrote:

I can but only disagree with every ounce of fibre in my body.
I learnt my entire skillset on the web for free. (And am still learning!)
There are many skills you can learn on the web for free that will give you real opportunities for employment.
Edit: My housemate too, who earns great money, dropped out of college and learnt his skills all on Google and Stack Exchange. For free. He now is in massively high demand and gets paid very well for a dude who's barely 25!
He is a linux sysadmin.
That might work for some super smart or talented people, but:Plyphon wrote:Barfunkel wrote:

Well you can't really become an electrician on your own. At least over here you need a license for that and most get that from school. Maybe it's possible to just take the license test and study on your own. Then again, it's super illegal to do electrician work on your own over here, so how do you practice? I don't think a friend who builds a house is gonna let you do the electric work there cos it's very likely that both of you will be in deep trouble after that.Plyphon wrote:
Or if you want to work with hands, become an electrician. There's not a country on Earth that isn't crying out for electricians.
Ow come on now. Normal electricity here in Belgium is 220 to 230 volt,Barfunkel wrote:I actually do have some electrician training, though not the full degree or the license. Electrician work is very stressful cos you're working with lethal voltage all the time and a mistake can cost either your or someone else's life.
.
I'll let you in on a secret : I can't stand stress myself either. I fucking hate it.Barfunkel wrote: I wouldn't mind a challenging job, but I don't like stress or handle it well. I've more or less given up in life and just accepted that I'll be unemployed for the rest of my life.
