Seating
Seating
So this might be quite a random topic hehe, though i believe it might have quite an impact on your workflow how you position your body in long studio sessions.
We've talked about some stuff already like desks for standing height, maybe even about seating too.
Atm Im using a big ol' leather office chair which is cool but a lazy thing to sit in and switch between synths.
I was wondering what you guys use to sit, move around and whatnot.
I might consider those drumming seats, those fitness balls or either a simple more agile office chair.

Re: Seating
I have this IKEA with the arms. I don't like leather office chairs.
Re: Seating
nice one
I came back after my walk to open subsekt and I thought: What a silly topic
Makes me think what other silly topics i've made over the years

Re: Seating
Since I work with music and audio I really needed great chairs. My latest one, which I used for a couple of years now, is the RH logic 400 chair. Swedish brand. Their pretty locally made too, just roughly 40 kilometers from where I live. I love it, brilliant chair. It's quite customizable, great ergonomics. Sadly quite costly as it went for slightly above 1000 € but it's a bit cheaper nowadays.

Re: Seating
In the production room I got one of these with the optional headrest.
Expensive, but mesh chairs are better than your foam cushion things, you don't get as hot, and it's got lumbar support independent of the seat back and everything moves and tweaks to your own perfection.

Normally about 6-700 quid but they are on sale right now, fuckers.
In the mastering room I just have a big fuck off super comfy faux leather sofa (albeit one with good posture) so clients can sit right next to me whilst I work and it's comfy for everyone for long sessions. Sitting on a sofa and working is fucking great (there is also a mini fridge full of beer, water and fizzy drinks next to the sofa too). I only need to lean forward to use a low level rack on wheels and I use a trackball on my lap so no hand cramps from using a mouse.
Couches are awesome. No good for a production studio though.

Re: Seating
Back in LA I have one of those ergonomic Herman Miller chairs. Here I have a cheap knockoff from IKEA. It's fine unless I'm in that seat for more than 3 hours, which frankly doesn't happen much anymore due to child and day job. But has someone who's had back issues in the past, I do think that if you are sitting in a chair for more than 3 hours at a time, you really need a good ergonomic chair.
Re: Seating
I Have no chairs, and sit on the edge of my bed.
Creativity is not a technique, it is a way of life.
Re: Seating
Nice to see its not such a silly topic after all.
Hmm interesting, atm more than 100 euro is out of the question until I get an actual job.
