What do you beatmatch with?

Was looking at CDJ1000mk3s today... I like the idea of having as much parity to a club as possible. The controllers barely share any controls, and unless you get the top of the line controller the platters are quite small (I don't know if this is an issue, just observation)

Though I might just say fook it and get a controller. It's just so much simpler having one thing to unplug and hide away... but it doesn't feel like proper DJing if its a tiny thing :(

I'm only 5,6" so it's actually not a bad height for me.
Basically everything is self contained from tunes to decks and speakers within and on the shelving system.

What Kallax did you go for?

Something like this:

But lengthways/on its side?

That's the one lengthwise. Works good for me

I have like 6 or 7 small ones (4x4) to store my vinyl in, in my living room downstairs,
and double the one you see in that pic to store all sorts of stuff in my bedroom.
It used to hold all my vinyl and my comics/graphic novels collection before I built my library downstairs.
I'd like to replace my big unit with a self-made one some day, with lovely oiled wood, just like my library,
but I think it's gonna cost me a small fortune if I want wood this wide (plus it's gonna weigh a hell of a lot more as well).

I try to stay away from Ikea as much as possible.
I honestly think it's one of our current society's most common denominators,
but yeah, some times you can't beat their prices and practicality. :)
You probably know i hate IKEA. But the Kallax units are pretty cool. It borders on the ridiculous that it does the same job as my old Mdf unit, bit the missus insists that its so much better.

OK if I'm honest. When my shit is packed away there's space for the TV and lamps. So it looks more lived in rather DJs den.

Dude this is something you need to get over. Sticking solid objects up your ass is not the way to solve problems. I feel we've known each other long enough to say this this

if this continues in any way,
I suggest we replace next years subsekt mix with a midget throwing contest.
You can use my slowly expanding beer belly as a target ! ;)
There's a direct correlation between height and DJ skillz. Fact.

not sure if your talking to me. Beat Matching for me is now warping tracks perfectly before hand. Now i have more time to concentrate on mixing not that beat matching is too hard anyways,

Novation Lauchpad

Novation Launch Control XL

Novation Audio HUB

That is my setup anyways . its all about getting the midi mapping to suit yourself , I don't even need to look at the computer . I could have my tracklist set already or I can change on the fly if required.

Ableton, 2 ipads and a Novation Remote SL, I can give the Chemical brothers a good run for their money with that lot, dont miss beat matching on decks one bit, more time to fiddle with that set up.

I'm afraid my beer belly can't handle that size quite yet, just yet. (I'm only an average 181cm myself)
Sooo... or you send me many, many, many cases of beer,
or I think we gotta use big Steve as a target.
