Holy moly, i read some of those. You should check out Fraser Nelson & Rod Liddle in the Spectator this month discussing the authenticity of Rolands TR-09 & choosing their 5 favourite Classics of Ostgut Ton. https://goo.gl/AxtKxN

it's equally worthwhile & definitely isn't people talking about shit no one cares about to signal how great of a person they are.

You should get your ass into the studio especially when you're depressed!

It's not the mans fault he has bad taste. It's just hard to imagine a good techno producer would have a thing for Gucci.

I never made more music than the year I was at home with a massive burn-out,
had to give up on a night-shift job I'd been doing for 15 years.
It was a shit job, but it gave me many days off for my music (and other things like raising the kids or renovating my house),
but I just couldn't go on with it any more.
Wouldn't wanna go through that year again though,
but yeah, it made me realize I should spend as much time in the studio as possible. :)
My current job allows me to make music every morning.
It's as good as it gets after my last job.
I don't mind to do a job to pay the bills, but I do need to have as much time for my music as possible.
In the end I finally realized I'm just a musician that decided I don't want to try and be dependent on my music for my income.

I spend 50-60 hours a week sometimes more in the studio, mixing programs, ads, promos etc. I enjoy distance from this windowless dark room and silence to give my ears a break, It can get depressing not seeing daylight in the winter months, maybe thats why a lot of my music sounds quite sad/ sombre ha ha.

Ha yeah, studio time is always a good way to spend time. I need my job as well though, else I couldn't pay for all that gear, music and label stuff :)

Trust me, exactly the same here.
Except my kids were a lot bigger reason to really be needing a new job
(and knowing I could/would never want to try and live off music).

Sure my gear costs money, but at the moment I'm still in a situation that if things got really bad, I could just start selling some gear.
I actually did so with a few pieces at the end of my year without a job, but only smaller pieces that I barely used.
If I'd have to sell pieces I really love, I'd be totally depressed.

I am not addicted to luxury at all, but I am addicted to buying books, buying records, watching films,...
and you can't do that when you don't have a job, so that was one of the things I missed the most when I didn't have a job.
As stupid as that may sound. :)

Oh yes the kids are the most important reason obviously, same here with two of those muppets :)
