I followed a link to beatport to buy a track, and while I was there, I thought I have a glance at the techno top 10...

I don't understand why people get so full of woe about Beatport, the people buying the music generate the charts. It certainly isn't representative of sites like Subsekt. Just let the people that enjoy that type of techno get on with it.

I mostly just use it to search for music I'm already aware of/looking for, not a particularly high hit rate here but always worth a look. The thought of actually using it as a means of music discovery stresses me out a bit...

Beatport is not a joke, the charts are, and how they categorise stuff as well.

It also shits on the artist from a height, because their percentage pay is abysmal.
Labels only use it because it is the most popular vendor and they lack the courage to take a stand and say no to their practices.

I too laughed at the gorilla rape scene in that. It was quite a bit funnier than the scene in 'Last Tango in Paris'

I have used the site to grab a few things that were Beatport exclusives, but the categories and their contents don't make any sense and the web player makes me feel like I'm listening to the tracks through a busted arse old guitar pedal compressor with the settings all jammed on full. I avoid it whenever possible.
