What got you all into Techno ?

was it a mix tape or a specific track ?

for me it was listening to John Peel drop all the early house and detroit techno in the late 80s....

but the tune that really turned me onto techno is Phuture - Acid Trax

I used to jam the guitar to the riffs & then try make them into tunes for the band. Such a class show. Used to love fridays & saturdays for him. Would record the shows every week and spend the rest of the wk listening to them on my walkman.

Suppose I didnt really listen to the music or know what the tunes actually were for a long time. I went clubbing first really & the fact that there was music was a by the by tbh - lol

I cant really think of tunes that got me into it or anything.. there just seemed to be a natural progression where I started listening & paying attention. I used to love all the London Acid stuff to begin with. I suppose later when I heard stuff like this, I wondered how you'd go about making it.

Sh!t Sound quality.. doesnt do it justice. Mate used to play a PAS track like this, cant remember the name, but it was similar in vibe to this one.

listening to hardcore in the early 90's is where it all started for me then it was a case of listening to different styles of dance music from there really. i properly got into techno in the mid 90's but also listened to trance and house as well

Having been into real industrial electronic music since late 70's through to the 80;s and being a punk - seemed to be the natural progression with a little help from some weird tablets

I know it's funny to some, but I always loved Duran Duran, and I thought at the time (when I was like 10) that Nick Rhodes was terrific. He had such a cool synth set-up in the early-1980s! I wanted to be him so badly.

Well, I wanted to be James Bond, but Nick Rhodes was a close second.

I started of listening to old house stuff in the early 90's when I was younger that my mum and dad were playing, then when I became a teenager got into the hardcore stuff, then toned it down to trance and house in late 90's early 00's. Shifted to hard dance after than and then finally settled into techno about 7 years ago. Think it was the warm up sets at Goodgreef that got me into techno. This was the first techno tune I really got into, from that point I was hooked....

Started with a bit of dodgy cheese.. but stayed clear of the evil Trance.

Listened to a lot of ind indie and electronic stuff at home and the walkman.. but always went out to clubs. Think over time the weekend started to creep more and more into the week and then I was hooked.

Liked the american stuff, but I got into the acid techno and harder stuff that was played at raves and parties in London.

I was like 15y old & went there with my brother and his friends since then I went every year till they started so play commercial stuff.
