Often think that way..

but last few tracks I've made, I've been pleased with them.. so.. its more a case of the glass being 1/2 full at the moment.

Its part of the ebb & flow of it all. If you liked everything you did, you'd have no shitfilter & be relentlessly posting every track track you made in facebook groups, if you know what I mean :)

i think that way all the time but i keep making better tracks. when i'm not getting any better i think it'll be time to stop.

i tell myself that it's mainly a matter of practice like a lot of other things.

Ah, we all have that feeling. Sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker but it never really goes away. I generally dislike most of my stuff when it's done to a greater or lesser degree. It never sounds as good as the 'pros' but don't forget the the pros are either very good at mastering or their labels have great engineers to add that extra level of polish to what is already a good piece of work.

Yeah that's it. You always think you're tracks are a bit shit compared to the pros but if you can look at your music and see an improvement over time then you just gotta keep at it!

Jon (Block.Punch) said it before.. When you accidently play an old tune in Itunes.. & you are like "whats that? sounds familiar.. sounds good.."

Then you realise that its one of yours.. thats a good feeling.

Yeah John, that is good when that happens. Especially when you don't notice any great drop in sound levels too so you realise you're on a par with the pro noise levels.

I'll be honest, I thought I was on fire a few tracks ago but something is not clicking at the mo. I always try to do something different from the last but feel I'm starting to become more formulated. Which is something I don't really want. Now any way :P

Being tired certainly isn't helping lol

@Jon - yeah to the levels.. and the stereo width.

__

James.. I go through that, where I want to pack as much in as possible & dont get out of it what I want. Feel deflated after lol

Thats just cos I'm pricking about really with no clear idea. You have to do that too man.. its just practice like we've all said pretty much.

Anyway.. any problem - give them away as "DJ tools" :)

you know, toms really mess with me. I always always find them the hardest part of percussion to get right, tuned, locked in, you know?

I wouldnt mind.. but I was using some samples.. and they sound right, but repetitive.

Then started using Drumazon - the 909 plug..

They sounded more alive, but not as banging as the samples. Even though I'm tweaking the same fx chain.. and then another (the beauty of being able to group & A/B alternatives..)

Anyway - Terrible. A track I really liked is slipping down the pan. Fkn hate it now.. lol

Think I'm going to have to go back to the samples & edit each single fucking hit in a drumrack.
