Re: Selling your own music
Selling your own music is difficult and arduous and at times soul destroying.
MP3/Wav sales are poor - even big and biggish labels struggle. There is more money to be made in making a video with your tune and putting it on you tube with advertising attached (again something a bit more complicated than it should be).
Find a decent label or set up a label with a decent aggregator or distributor and plug away. It is relatively easy which is why there is so much shite out there. Unless the tune is 1. simply outstanding, 2. on a big label with a name remixer or 3. on vinyl (with an accompanying online release) getting an MP3 reviewed is near impossible. Some DJs will give good feedback, some even chart online only releases and major sites like RA etc shy away from online only releases unless you advertise of course. As for DJ mag etc forget about it.
However, don't let my bitterness put you off. Enjoy what your doing and do it, but if it is good and you believe in it then find the cash and make a wee bit of vinyl. You'll get greater and more immediate recognition, especially if its good music.

Re: Selling your own music
leave it to the Pros Bro !! to sell your Music you will still need to deal with licensing and Distribution . ohh and of course lots of promoting .
Re: Selling your own music
the pros?
that day is kinda gone now that there's digital distribution.
>set up a business/label to publish your own tracks.
>apply for a licence code for each release.
>set up digital distribution
>make €€€€ (at some point!)
this clears shit up to some extent but obviously there'gonna be some costs and paperwork too and you will have to delve deeper into it. The point is, it can be done.

i like how bandcamp works too though and it's less hassle for starting out.

there are lots of people who open their own labels , but they usually end up just spending more time , promoting , and working with Promotional Campaigns.
and this working with Digital distribution too .
Re: Selling your own music
the point is simply that opening your own label can be done without "the pros" these days.
like any business, making money is the hard part, where you end up spinning plates 24/7.

but you're doomed if you don't try"
