Bonjour from France!

My name is Othmane (Artist name Otedja).
I like to create (and obviously listen) to music, any genre in fact. But I always end up composing electronic music. I try other genres to challenge my limits and have more various fun.
I mostly compose from A to Z, but I make some reworks/remixes/covers from time to time of songs I like
My fav DJs are Tiesto, ATB, Maceo Plex, Dirty South, probably others that I forgot. Kinda Old school, I know, but I always come back to them I noticed.

I use FL Studio, tons of VSTs and sound packs, mini Korg keyboard, Roland electronic drumkit and my dear acoustic violin.
I have a SoundCloud page and I'm going to start distributing on music platforms (Can finally invest in work)

Well I’ve been on this forum for 8 yrs & haven’t said hello so hello. I’ve been a DJ for 28 yrs now & around 8 yrs ago I bit the bullet & bought ableton, Needless to say I was rubbish & with family/work life taking up a lot of my time I gave up regretably. However the past couple of yrs I’ve begun dabbling with ableton again & have started to get a bit of understanding of it. So hopefully I’ll manage to get something together & with the immense knowledge on this forum then who knows.

As the previous poster, I´ve been reading the forum for some time, especially looking for production tips and music recs, and though it was about time to make an account.

Anyway, my name is Sao, I am a music producer since 2012 maily focused on Techno, Micro and some ambient here and there. I just started to promote my music a bit more seriously like a year ago and am mainly looking for tips, criticism and feedback once I am allowed to post here
I love getting tips from people who think like me and, so far, I have seen that this is what really helps me get better at the music I do.

I am currently based in Dublin, in case there are any member on the area, would love to have a chat!

Hi. Wow, apparently i'm a member since 2013...i had no idea. Well, last few years i was kind of on the move constantly so didn't have much time for music but now with all the virus and lockdowns and stuff maybe it's finally the time. I do electronic music for many years, mostly more on the 'experimental' side but very interested in organizing my soundings into something more structured and rhythmical, and since techno is my first love, that's where i tend to look for inspirations. So yes, great forum and community as it seems, hopefully i'll be able to contribute with time.

P.S. Oh, somehow i've managed to relocate to Istanbul of all places and will be stuck here for a while probably, so if someone who's into modular synths and techno music and living in the city will read this, know: you're not alone...

Hi all. I have lurked here for a while for the solid production tips people offer. I have produced music on and off for the past few years now. I have never really shown my work to anyone because I don't think it's really at a high enough caliber yet to be enjoyed by anyone other than myself.I have been creating in such a vacuum though that I probably have not improved as much as I could have been if I was showing my work to people. Because I want to improve I have set a goal for myself to self-release something in 2021. Aside from techno I listen to a lot of house music. Anyway glad to be part of the community here now and I hope I can contribute something people find useful.

Pretty typical story, I think I've read every post in the Hole at least once over the last few years. I made an account a little while back and it was finally approved just recently.

My artist name's mervv, I've made techno and techno-adjacent music for about 7 years. For a long time I was all in the box. Over the last year, I've collected some hardware. I'm really process-oriented, so figuring out how to incorporate gear and exactly what I want out of it has been a lot of fun. I find I'm still doing most of my (re)sampling and a lot of sound design in ableton because I'm really comfortable with it, which is a bit surprising.

I wanted to join this forum because it's been a great resource for me, from stuff like Steve's stickied tutorials to the threads where people share wacky ideas they've tried out recently (those are my favorite).

As far as music goes, I'm more into a particular vibe than I am a certain genre or time-period. I like stuff that's funky and a bit sexy, powerful but restrained. My regular rotation includes a lot of classics. Recently I've been digging through the discographies of Detroit in Effect, Vince Watson, and Mike Ash. I love Shed's many aliases, especially WK7. I like a lot of hardware acid stuff, like Jared Wilson.

I also love anything spacey and melodramatic. Listen to a lot of post-punk and goth-rock as well.

I'm really drawn to music that sounds very situated in a particular scene and time, that reflects, owns, and amplifies the social milieu it comes from. I think dance music is fundamentally social, and outside of a social context it doesn't make much sense.

I've noticed that I soak up the sounds of whatever city or environment I'm in. When I lived in Leipzig, Germany for a few years I really enjoyed ketapop and all this drugged-out super-slow stuff. Now I'm in Shanghai and I've found I naturally sped up quit a bit.

I mostly play live and I'm hopefully going to be releasing a couple records with some friends here in the next 6 months or so.
