Zap my brain

Quite excited about this. If they could stop the ringing in my ears I promise I will never again dance all night right next to a dirty great speaker stack with no ear protection.

It might be closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, but these are a really good idea.

Although they feel funny at the start of the night, they more than make up for it when you take them out at the end.

I doubt it mslwte, people should be producing at comfortable levels, if I was going home from the studio with ringing in my ears every night I might wanna turn the volume down a bit :)

I have ever so slight ringing from years of abuse, I wonder do ya loose frequencys or is it just like a limiter for ur ears.

We where talking about Tinnitus in tech the other day and I couldn't help think why not make a hearing aid that uses phase cancelation to remove the problem frequency, if possible, why live with constant pain.

Yeah, what Snivitz said. Having to wear ear plugs whilst producing is madness.

I wear them when I go to clubs, they are a bit annoying at the start of the night but as you get more, erm, involved in the evening you stop noticing them. I do take them out when I am playing though, which I probably shouldn’t. It is great for when people shout directly into your ear as well.

I would think they are a must when playing out

But certainly would not use them producing

Yeah, I should but I don't play out very often now - only a few times a year. If I was playing out every weekend I would wear them. Maybe.

Not even when wearing headphones? Some say that iPod headphones are more damaging to your ears than large speakers in a club. Obviously your nit wearing iPod headphones when producing but you get the idea :) Also just because your ears do not "ring" it doesn't mean that you are not damaging your ears!

I wear them in clubs but when I'm actually DJing I take them out, need my ears on their top form for that part.

And about tinnitus, Phase cancellation wouldn't work as a remedy because the noise is created in your brain, not your ears, to make up for the damaged and lost frequencies...

There has been promising research into brain treatment that's been stopping tinnitus in rats! Doesn't give back the lost frequencies though but it's a start! http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/ja ... e-tinnitus

Is it that they do not reduce the volume as such but cut out the frequencies that do the damage?

Must get some really they are only 15 quid

No, it makes everything quieter, but the same amount quieter throughout the frequency range. Ordinary ear plugs will affect some frequencies more than others, so music sounds muffled.

Those Alpine with the least restrictive filter ie loudest sound (white), are really good.
