Try not be triggered by Musk for a minute. There are other people that are worried. I honestly have no idea to think about this, obviously some people think this guy has gone mad : https://time.com/6266923/ai-eliezer-yud ... ot-enough/Lost to the Void wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 4:13 pm"Musk, whose carmaker Tesla (TSLA.O) is using AI for an autopilot system, has been vocal about his concerns about AI."chava wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 8:19 amWell... .https://www.reuters.com/technology/musk ... 023-03-29/

Oh plenty of credible people are worried, as they and we, should be.chava wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 9:34 pmTry not be triggered by Musk for a minute. There are other people that are worried. We`ve had at least 60 years of dystopian scifi to warn us.
Re: AI and music
There was a Danish professor who signed the letter that gave a more - in my mind - sober argument for being careful. He was worried that the mimicking og human behavior in the chat bots would get people to think that it can replace human, and that's a danger since these systems are not human. They can do all sorts of things and are a great tool, but we should see them as such - tools.Lost to the Void wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 11:42 pmOh plenty of credible people are worried, as they and we, should be.chava wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 9:34 pmTry not be triggered by Musk for a minute. Re: AI and music
One of my friends just attended a conference on MIR (AI stuff that is working with music). It was about training a system to replicate medieval instruments. I thought that was a quite interesting use of it - it is strange to only read about sounding phenomena
EDIT: at least that's what I think they were trying to do - he got crazy technical very quickly

Re: AI and music
I was hoping that it bring about more creative uses of technology, which it does to some extent. AI, for the moment is reliant on it's human operators for good or for bad. Most of what I have been using and researching involves enriching media and metadata but I am certainly hearing a lot of nefarious use-cases.
Think I am going to have to tell my parents that they no longer believe what they see or hear, as video, photos and voices can convincingly faked.
As for trying to get people to slow down, there is no incentive for slowing at all.

Re: AI and music
Stanford just released their 2023 AI Index Report, one of the key points was:
The number of incidents concerning the misuse of AI is rapidly rising.
According to the AIAAIC database, which tracks incidents related to the ethical misuse of AI, the number of AI incidents and controversies has increased 26 times since 2012. Some notable incidents in 2022 included a deepfake video of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy surrendering and
U.S. prisons using call-monitoring technology on their inmates. This growth is evidence of both greater use of AI technologies and awareness of misuse possibilities.

Re: AI and music
I'm more worried about the environmental shit that is going to hit us in the next decade than AI.
Disrupted food production and distribution. Huge increase in climate refugees. Water resources....
We'll be too bothered with that shit to worry about AI.
Rolling power cuts are not conducive to AI either.
