How to create this vocal effect
From the movie Evil Dead:
youtu.be/Rhmv40SBzS4
The vocal starts at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhmv40SBzS4&t=71s
And in general maybe it'd be cool to have a forum subsection "Vocal Effects" (don't beat me if it already exists, I didn't check).
Krotos' Dehumaniser I and II are great for demon/monster vocals but they don't come cheap at €95.59 and €398.09, respectively.

I don't see why this couldn't be under the hole section - in general there aren't super many vocals in techno, so a dedicated subforum might be a bit overkill

Super super simple, you just need a harmoniser or several copies of the vocal at different pitches. That`s literally all it is.MonoTeksist wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:36 amFrom the movie Evil Dead:

I`ve been doing this to vocals for years.
Sounds more "evil" when you use dissonant pitches rather than harmonies.

Reminds me that it's been too long since I have seen Evil Dead

Unless your imagination is at near-constant lightspeed; to commit yourself to just one genre would be akin to ego-death.
I just produce what my instinct, gut, mood, frustration level, *cough*Dark Side*cough* makes me produce, you can come up with crazy stuff like that, as in doing something one evening/night and then listening to it a couple of days later and going "What?! No way did I do this man, who hacked my box??"
Which is totally satisfying.
I have some songs that contain the voices of both Clara Sorace and Uyanga Bold, both ladies being HUGE in the field of movie/video game soundtracks and epic music in general. Think eg Hans Zimmer kind of huge.
I'll try to post one of these "Ok box hacked again!"-songs. It's 90% finished and I blew myself away with it, possibly my biggest musical achievement ever.
Disclaimer: I have this bad habit of posting in a forum (not just this one) and then going AWOL for days/weeks/sometimes months on end. I don't do this on purpose, I just have SO many ideas in my head that I regularly lose track of a lot of them. <- INTP personality type here + 100% scatterbrain.

Thanks a lot Steve, I'll look into harmonies in a technical way.Lost to the Void wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 7:15 pm

I'm not going to make a new "Vocals" thread, so I'll ask this here: what kind of properties/effects can you give a sound that makes the left and right channel seem to have the same content, but one can hear them being in full stereo?
Here's just one example:

(best heard with headphones)

Micro delay of one channel.
Stillwell CMX does this to a very fine degree, you can also micro pitch shift one channel to get a more 3d effect.

Thanks, I really need to improve my vocal fx skills.Lost to the Void wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 12:20 pmMicro delay of one channel.

Although I do think that just messing about arbitrarily can get you pretty far as well.
