Re: vinyl vs cd
Just as Pleb said...... i have both and multiple DVS, But i have unfortunately migrated to traktor scratch pro but generally use X1 with it. If you spend a few hours with it every so often just like abelton, you'll nail all the cues and beatgrids. Once that hard work is done, why would i use cdj's? ha ha i tell you why.... so i don't fall asleep when mixing!!

traktor scratch ftw. i just like feeling my decks
Re: vinyl vs cd
yeah man i hear that
i find myself mixin quicker than ever with them cos its not as labour intensive as it once was. but thats a good thing i find cos you have to push yourself to be more creative with em. i know what you mean though.
you do put on a bit of an act when you are all digital like me sometimes but what can you do? sometimes i feel like puttin on a mouses head to distract everyone fromwhat im not doin hehehehe

Re: vinyl vs cd
Erm i was using Torq back in 2008 whilst playing on phatbeats.co.uk.... Was using an XPONENT of all things. Thats what fueled the shift to full on mp3/solidstate functionality for me. Had used Virtual Dj hooked up to an oxygen 8 mk i prior to that just purely because it was easier to have a database than burn cd's...... and also stream to a shoutcast.
Basically the streaming side is the thing that Gendemik is best at!

Re: vinyl vs cd
silly. cdjs are useful. all the equipment provided to us is useful.
when i play i use 3 vynil turntables, laptop for playing my live music, and cd to play the tracks that i eventually decide to put on cd.

Re: vinyl vs cd
still love vynil, but S4 + Mac is just so freaking handy ... I don't play often enough to move all my gear and records around anymore !

Re: vinyl vs cd
I have been getting back into vinyl as well, I am buying more and I just enjoy myself more when I use it. I have Traktor Scratch as well, but I have not really been using it recently.
That said I don't really care what other people play, good DJs are good DJs no matter what they use.

Yeah.. and bad music is bad music. I've got plenty of vinyl with only one good track on it.

All you need on a record is one good track.
Re: vinyl vs cd
vinyl makes for better sculptures
Re: vinyl vs cd
All vinyl here so far... It's tough but at the same time the high cost of vinyl has made me a little pickier in recent times so now every purchase is either an "essential" tune or a bargain, which is OK with me. Been toying with using traktor to play the odd digital track just for unreleased stuff and promos, and possibly some of my own tracks even but haven't gotten into it yet, still much prefer the wax!
Re: vinyl vs cd
I am obsessed with vinyl at the moment. The amount I have bought this year is getting a bit silly. I got a load of old mobile phones and sold them in computer exchange the other day so I could get some more.
I feel like I am some kind of addict.
