DJ'ing on KRK Rokit8

Post by WOLF! »

Hello,

I'm thinking about buying some second hand KRK Rokit8 (first generation) monitors for my DJ setup. The price would be around 250 euro.
I know these are nearfield but my DJ setup is integrated in my studio and my current speakers (old big AKAI with 12" monitors) are only 1,5 meters away from me so that almost like a nearfield setup. Because of the room size I can't put the big Akai's somewhere else so the placement would stay the same.
I know the nearfields wont give me that big PA bass but maybe i can add a sub afterwards.
My old akai's lack bass, my presonus sceptre S8's have more bass then the old akai's.
I know the KRK's are known to give a lot of bass so this might be an upgrade bass wise.
So keep in mind the KRK's are only for DJ'ing and no production. Also the size is allmost the max I can place. The old akai's are bigger and that's not perfect to place them in the room.

Any thoughts about this?

The Akai's are powered by a 150 Watt amp.
Maybe some older bookshelf speakers are also an option if they should fit my needs.

I think Yamaha HS8`s work as good DJ monitors. Plenty of low end, they are like hifi sound with nearfield precision.
