Who here still goes to clubs?

Post by jordanneke »

I haven't been to a club in a year. A whole year.

It's weird that I'm making music for a scene that I'm not part of at all anymore.

I do. But it's getting less frequent. The recovery time is all that puts me off.

I do keep promising the 'go early, don't get a gurn on, home and in bed by 3am' night out. But so far that hasnt actually happened 😄

LOL - The old 'quiet night out'. About as likely as Steve producing for Bumload.

How old are you TerryF?

I do. Just was in an underground techno club last saturday, dancing until 8AM.

I'm 42, but I'm not gonna stop anytime soon.

42 and staying up til 8am. How many months did it take to recover from that effort?

I guess it's also if you have kids or not.

I also go to raves and clubs, put I try to pick the good partys more than just going to go out. I'm 33. when I go to a rave I mostly take acid. It keeps me up all night, no hangover, my appetite remains and I dont have that all fucked up face thing going on. Also recovery time is very short, wich is a big pro for me.
But I also go totally sober to parties (mostly in the wintertime so I can take the car  ), no alcohol or any other drug whatsoever. Those parties are the best actually. no hangover at all and I can still dance till the morning (depending how the evening goes). got one of those parties this Friday :)

No kids. Going to a club again next weekend...

8am is still impressive.

In my day I was never one to make it much past 7am. Mind you, back in the early 2000s, the only places open after 6am were hell-holes frequented by angry coked-up gangsters who liked to damage people.

Respect.

I don't think I could stand up for 11 hours straight.

In fact, aside from respire I don't think I can do anything for 11 hours these days.

I always enjoyed listening to the music & dancing.. but socialising was just as important to me.. and to our whole group.

There was always a point where going home was irresistible. The night was still young & the craic was always great back at our place.

Whether The Pied Piper is playing or not, dancing all night is grand if you've no better place to go lol.

You probably won't be gyming it the next day anyway.. so it's a good way to keep the burgers & kebabs off 😆

Dunno. Glad clubs didn't stay open all hours in my heyday. Would have missed out on a lot of laughs.

I go out a lot, but no so much to dance music stuff. Lots of gigs, metal, industrial, goth, weird shit, classical, arty stuff, IDM.
Dance events if mates suggest something interesting, rarely techno though, that's like a busmans holiday.
I have a cast iron constitution though, so staying out late/early is never an issue.
I`m probably going out more now than I have for ages actually, I`m really back into music in a big way, anything and everything.

It's been a passion to go clubbing, just because I love that moment when a whole dancefloor goes crazy, forgets the world, loves the music. As this doesn't happen anymore around here at local clubs, I don't go out often. I really had a lot moments dancing while reflecting that it's not much fun because of how clubbing has changed the last years over here. I don't want that, so I don't go.

Not a lot any more. I think you could say once this year, as there always seems to be something else happening or planned.

That's one cool thing about existing in the artistic sphere. My mates who are dyed in the wool performance and classical artists are always hitting up shows and stuff, despite being mid 50's...and having kids (and looking after them properly). But they all live bang in the centre of Antwerp...which is a pretty trendy city.

That's one of the drawbacks of being a 9-5 career man (even though I get 3 months off a year), staying out late is incompatible with being middle aged and living in the sticks.

Ah yeah, that`s true. I have no kids and live in london, it`s an easy journey to the madness, and an easy one home, so it does make shit easy to deal.
If I go to something that`s just not cool beans, it`s no biggy, I can be home in an hour.
The missus is in australia for a week currently, I`ve been out nearly every night haha

I still go out, but I rarely last after 5am - but lately I have enjoyed clubs more, than in a long time

That's not really old in Amsterdam is it really though. In any other city aside from a very large capital destination, being 38 in a club/ festival = fucking ancient
