I loved me a bit of trance back in the day..........
Anyone else into the Reactivate series?

I've got a few albums knocking about, I'll have to dig them out as I can't remember exactly which ones. Got a few vinyl as well, one of them being a blu peter ep that I used to play all the time.

Blu Peter was the man back in 95.
This was the best of the series...

When trance was good
Wasn't Reactivate just licensing stuff from other labels? Didn't know they've had own releases, too.

Apropros of nothing, I always preferred the Man with no name mix of Schoneberg.

Re: React records/ trance thread........
I still have a stack of old Trance on vinyl. For those that weren't there, I'd highly recommend checking out Platipus and Bonzai Records back catalogue. There's some treasure to be found there.
Thank you for the laughs, debate, new music found, production tips etc etc over the years. I wish Subsekt and everyone all the best for the future. Wiu.

Platipus records were awesome
Re: React records/ trance thread........
Agreed on the Platipus front. I've got a big stack of old progressive house / trance vinyl from around 1996 and those Platipus releases sound fantastic even now.
Re: React records/ trance thread........
Is it just me or did the term "trance" (as in proper goa trance) get hijacked in the late nineties?
I would say it definitely lost something when the likes of pvd, tiesto and these other guys started churning out the cheese.
I was around for that, but wasn't a big fan at all. I found it predictable mostly, formulaic, but having said that I still danced to it at the time...
I was a bit too young for the earlier goa stuff, but it sounds far more like an adventure into original territory with plenty of originality.
The later stuff was like taking the lowest common denominator from it, like massive drum rolls and white noise and that hoover sound to entertain people on pills, nothing more...
The closest I can think of that sort of stood in the middle ground was maybe that jam and spoon track or cygnus x orange theme...

And people in night clubs certainly don't take pills and certainly don't want to be entertained........Dance music is all the same in that respect, I mean, it's not highbrow.. It's meant for the dance floor, Techno, House, Disco whatever, people get all chin-strokey, but all dance music illicts the same response.... Making people who take drugs have a great time.surface wrote:

I spent a fair amount of time going to goa/trance clubs in the 90's, and yes it did die a death and become untrendy...but
Anyway, the PVD remix of Binary Finary was a fucking KILLER (on the mitsi's) Proper religious shit with the lazers going. I still like that track a lot.....

It's amazing how times have changed. That was my favourite tune back then. I think the mitzi's helped me along the way.jordanneke wrote: And people in night clubs certainly don't take pills and certainly don't want to be entertained........Dance music is all the same in that respect, I mean, it's not highbrow.. On mitsi's, nothing came close to the rush of the break, hands in the air, smiles all round, of trance.Mslwte wrote:

Ohhhh one of my all time classic tracks. So fucking good! Mike Dierickx really did slam em out back then. This was always my favourite of his though closely followed by Plastic Boy : Life Isn't EasyMslwte wrote:youtu.be/5KKegAWHdjs
