I'm not talking the self-proclaimed underground nerds hiding in their basements. Sure there's great producers on L.I.E.S, and then all the other labels.

There are hundreds of highly acclaimed artists from within a 100 mile radius of Detroit, let alone the entirety of the US.

i dont think it would work. the scene is too small there for a club that size. and the laws are too strict in the states. it wouldnt last long

it's interesting that Mr.Hegemann considers to open a Tresor club in Detroit. Makes sense as Tresors best days in Berlin are over.

as a Cali born and raised kid, i for one would would love to see the "berlin-detroit techno alliance" happen stateside. i think the scene here is growing but really slowly. one of the things that's slowing the growth of the scene in the states is the availability of quality touring acts because of visas and flight costs. if there's money flowing into a giant techno center in detroit that means flights from detroit to anywhere in the US and the americas will be dirt cheap. and that means more exposure for techno as a whole. which is a very very good thing. plus americans are lazy or broke and they can't really afford to fly across the atlantic. but i've known several of my friends to stop what they are doing and go to DEMF.

so if tresor is booking out here, that means it's very good news. for everybody. if there were a good stream of techno acts available for flight shares, i might even start tossing my soundsystem out there again.

There's already a flood of good acts being imported via NY (Output, Bunker). Michigan is an easy jump which we used to book constantly (NY, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Ontario, Quebec), then have the possibility of going west or going back to Europe.

For large names from my understanding it's just too little money and too much time to dedicate to trudging around NA.

Moudaber did her thing last night. Fully pre-recorded set. And now all I see is #QueenOfTechno posts all over social media. Techno is growing here, but in which direction. Open-minded people will find their niche regardless, so it's useless worrying about the idiots. I think Hegemann was pointing more towards an over-all development of the city though. He spoke a lot about arts and fashion, and from what I understand his main focus is the aesthetics rather than the substance, for now. He didn't want to make it about a Techno club per se. Part of the plant is bought out, so hopefully things will start moving along soon.

Droid Behavio(u)r is doing good things in LA I've heard. It's mostly the harder tech house
sound though, which doesn't really interest me.

I mean I've seen other pics circulate the net where that woman on the picture has the arturia step sequencer shoved into her...

never mind though, I would be derailing this topic far too much...
