Opinion on sample rate / bit depth and my setup.

OK, so here's the deal.

I built a portable computerless setup for when I am on the road. It's an MPC 1000, Korg Volca Kick, Korg Monologue, OP-1, and the Lyra-8, all running into a Roland MX-1 mixer. I can run the MX-1 standalone, without a computer.

I run the MPC 1000 into the digital input of the MX-1, using SPDIF. In order for this to work I have to set the MX sample rate to 44.1. I can track all this stuff into Ableton using the MX-1 as a soundcard. So I can jam and then record tracks for further editing in Ableton.

Question is: How bad is it to record in 16/44.1? I've never really understood dithering. When I am at home, I would probably use analog inputs to record the MPC and also to sample to the MPC, so I could run the home setup at higher bit rate, and probably a higher sample rate. What would you recommend for a sample rate at home?

I am running a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 into an old ass MBP (2010).

Added a picture for the fuck of it.

For techno, with a low fidelity setup like that, 16\44 is fine.
