Korg Monologue / Minilogue - Thoughts?

Just wondering who here has either? Leaning more towards the monologue atm.

Q: Can you open the VCA on either of them & make it drone?

Read the mono manual last night.. but couldn't see anything, though may have missed it. Hoping to demo them next week.

Cool. Can you open up the amp & get a constant tone Steve.. or are you achieving the drone by adding fx?

I fucking love my Minilogue. I can't recommend it enough. Its superb. I would go for the Mini more sound sculpting options... its such a great synth to get lost in. Drones no prob, but you'll find much more interesting things.

pull the trigger

The sequencer offers a world of possibilities, drones included.

IThanks M - I've been watching vids of both & have to say that I like the nastiness of the Mono more.. but I guess theres a wider palette available on the Mini. Need to play around with one for a bit I reckon.

SO.. You can route the seq to parameters? Cool.

There is latch mode with the latest firmware update, for continuous notes.

Great. Latch.. deadly.

I was looking at the mini manual also & couldnt see anything that referred to it. Cheers. Guess it's on the mono too. Will see.

Are people using the motion control feature much.. or just tweaking as you record?

Never used the sequencer or the motion control feature.

Looking at the mono.. doesnt have an arp. So no latch possibly.

Probably not
*Edit*

No ARP, but it does have both hold and latch function.

I was toying with getting a mono as it really is quite lovely, but the limited envelope put me off.

Yeah
. The A/D envelopes are probably my only slight concern too.

Not for me, I hate step sequencers, all the fun for me is using an external sequencer to tell the synth to do what I want.

whooo ill get a minilogue one day when i have money. It looks and sounds like such a great device. i actually dident want to get any hardware, but i think ill make an exception. Need to get into synthesis alot more, but i find it difficult with those software synths. doing everything with sample manipulation, which certainly works, but i would like the idea of wanting to make a sound and then make it. Instead of just trying random stuff with audio processing, untill it sounds ok.

Minilogue question..

Was watching this vid on the envelope behaviour of the Korg. Can anyone confirm that this is still the case.. that you cannot have a 'swell' of slow attack / long release notes. I knew there were clicky envelopes.. but is there a workaround regarding how the notes trigger or retrigger?

It's one of my favourite things to do with a yamaha cs5 that I have here.

Clicky envelopes was fixed a bazillion years ago with a firmware update.
Never had any trouble making swells or anything.
That video was made when the mini had just came out.
The retrigger was fixed by setting portamento to 0, but I don`t remember having that issue either, so that also might have been solved (I waited to buy a minilogue until the clicking env was sorted, so I don`t really know the update iterations, mine just came working all lovely n shit).

Nice. Thanks Steve. Still need to demo it.. but I'm interested right back the same way again.

It sounds great in the vids & the spec appears good and given the price, it'd be a shame if it didn't do the stuff you take for granted.

The retrigger thing has been fixed with a firmware update, too.
No need to set portamento to 0 anymore.

Will buy a Minilogue one day. Love it.
